Ram into a fat falcon with prockets.... Fire away 5 dice of pain with no return fire
use for arvel....
how are you ramming him and having the target lock? And maintaining contact with Han. And just so many questions... (if joking thread you got me)

You need a focus for Proton Rockets, not a target lock--although the question of how Arvel gets an action is still a good one.
Only need focus for proton rockets. Not hard to get that through hwk xwing or z95 support. Pilot names escape me
We all know arvel is a hard counter to fat han.
You can even give him Intimidation to remove any green dice he has.
I figured it out!!! Arvel doesn't bump Han, Han bumps arvel!! So you focus, pray for the bump, then unload. That makes alot more sense now. Still unreliable without Garvin or cracken. Maybe lando?

Just throw intelligence agent on the hwk giving you focus. Kyle
Edited by bladedLol if praying to the dice gods has taught me anything its that they are fickle gods indeed. Praying to the bump gods could be even worse...
Step 1: Block Han
Step 2: Hope you have firing arc after blocking Han.
Step 3: Watch rest of your squadron be obliterated by Han.
Step 4: You want to go home and rethink your life.

I'm not quite sure I get your number 2, here. You'll most likely have arcs if you're crashing into him. Just fly head-on. PtL to boost and get that extra bit of range, and unless he's playing super defensive and only making a straight 1 on his first turn, you should be able to get range 1 pretty easily
Oh, Arvel. Will he ever find his niche?
I was thinking the intimidation card may help him out a little bit, since he already likes to be in contact with other ships. But nothing really solves the real problem: that his ability is perfect for a blocker, but he moves at PS6.

It's because Han will move after Arvel and from my experiences flying the Falcon, we try not to be stupid enough to get blocked by abusing the hard-1s and Engine Upgrades.
It would be sweet if there was a way to put enhanced scopes from the aces set on him.

He can get VI now, at least, with A-wing Test Pilot. That will at least bump him to an 8. There is also Squad Leader that can give him an action near the end. That might be a barrel roll or boost to just get someone in his firing arc, if not in contact.
Frankly, in a point-for-point trade, Arvel is a FAR superior hard counter to the Executor rather than Han Solo.

Cracken + daredevil? Focus as first action, daredevil for the free one might work

Oh, that's just half of his problem. He's not a great blocker because he's PS6, and he's also not a great rammer because it leaves him without an action.
He's just so awkward to try to use. I'd feel bad for him, but over the past couple of years pity has taken a back seat to contempt.

True, he's almost annoying at this point. Some reptilian portion of my brain keeps trying to make him work whenever new cards come out. I already mentioned Intimidation, but there's also decoy, and enhanced sensors. Nothing. works. with. Arvel.

That makes sense. I read "blocking" and thought "flying in the way, where Han will crash into you" while "crashing" consists of running into them during your maneuver.
So, blocking, you'll get your action. Crashing, you won't.
Hmm, this does come to 100 points even:
Arvel Crynyd (23)
+ A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
+ Proton Rockets (3)
+ Intimidation (2)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x6
Park Arvel in front of the Falcon with a Focus, with the Z's hanging out nearby. When the Falcon hits, unleash hell! 17 dice (up to 23 if the Z's are in Range 1) against 0 Agility and 0 C-3PO.
Good luck against other lists, though. ![]()
Arvel will emerge with Stay on Target so he can crash reliably.
Or he will suck forever.
Either way, I'm fine with it.

you could also drop to 4 bandits with concussion missiles+munitions failsafes and put a shield upgrade on arvel
when Imp huge ships come out there should be a special rule for Arvel if he rams into or a huge ship over laps him he is destroyed and the huge ship must draw 2 face up damage card's
wouldnt that be fun
Arvel is and will always be a mountain of disappointment. He's supposed to be Green-Freakin-Leader and he's PS6?! With no EPT?! WTH?!
Let's lay this out.
Arvel-23 pts, PS6 no EPT and a useless special.
Green Squadron with VI- 20 PTS for PS5.
Since Arvel's special is useless it matches up perfectly with the GS's no special and they both now have the exact same upgrade potential. Only you're paying three points for one extra PS. Arvel is arguably the worst pilot card FF has made in this game. Nothing about him adds up.
Speaking as an A-wing fan, who has always been an A-Wing fan, please stop trying to make him useful, just stop. It's not going to happen. Let's just all remember him for his fireball of glory that helped the Rebel Alliance win the war. As far as I'm concerned he hasn't been added to the game yet.
....Seriously though, GREEN-FREAKIN-LEADER and no EPT while the generic GS has it...grumble...grumble...
