Adventure Cards in The Reaper Expansion

By Lars Gnomish, in Talisman

I'm not too bothered to get the Reaper Expansion for the new characters or the Reaper figure, but I do want some interesting new adventure cards. Can anyone tell me what the cards in The Reaper are like? I don't want more of the same.

I find the base game doesn't have enough monsters, for one thing. Less than 1 in 4 cards is a monster, which is kind of weak. Of those, several of them are cake (Lemure for instance). That makes leveling up from trophies pretty hard to do when you have 3+ players. Does The Reaper correct this imbalance?

Also, I want more -nasty- cards that stay on the board. I've found that players rarely go to the desert or the Glade, because we always have a choice to go somewhere else. But if there were more cards that make spaces cruel, it would force players to make more sub-optimal decisions.

Hi Lars,

The Reaper expansion will correct this balance.

My thoughts are the same as you with the main board base game. The cards in the talisman base game are a pain in the ass.

the main board has to much double enemies. 3x the same dragon, 2x the same bandit.

It's really boring.

In the reaper expansion are all the enemies different. But it adds also a lot of other cards in it( place, strangers, objects, magic objects etc

The problem is that the 4th edition board is a copy of the 2th, and that goes also for the cards that are including in the base game.

This means that you need the reaper expansion if you want to play with a lot of different cards.

The dungeon expansion also adds 10 more cards to the main deck, so the problem has already resolved ! aplauso.gif
