As my friend and I were setting up to play the awesome mission that came with Imperial Aces, "Cutting the Cord", my friend had an interesting question. If a ship equipped with the "Outmaneuver" Upgrade card attacks a facility to take it out, does the effect apply?

When defending a facility, you still roll defense dice, like a ship. Also, in the rules, it states that "Facilities are treated as obstacles that can be attacked, target-locked, damaged, and destroyed as if they were Imperial ships." However, a facility does not have a firing arc at all.

Thematically speaking, you can't outmaneuver something that can't shoot back or move. Doesn't matter from what angle you shoot it, you are in no danger of being shot back by the facility. So, would the advantage of outmaneuver be denied here, since there is no firing arc present?

Can't recall if it was an FAQ or an answer here on the forum. But if you don't have a firing arc, Outmaneuver doesn't work. This applies to the GR-75 and would apply to facilities.

outmaneuver states:

When attacking a ship inside your firing arc, if you are not inside that ship's firing arc reduce its agility value by 1 (to a minimum of 0)

The mission states that facilities are treated as obstacles.

So Outmaneuver applies to ships and facilities aren't considered to be ships

Seems pretty straightforward to me

Furthermore as the facilities do not have a firing arc, you can be neither within it's arc nor outside its arc - so I can't see how OM would even trigger

Yeah, I figured since it has no firing arc, it couldn't apply but the rule stating to treat facilities as ships kinda threw me off.

A: No, Backstabber’s pilot ability only triggers against ships that have a printed firing arc.

Same should apply to Outmaneuver.
