Looks like the one IG-88 you can see in the preview will cost 36 points. The idea of running multiple IG's that share pilot abilities intrigues me. Do you think it will be possible to run 3 at a time or will they all most likely cost around 36 points?
Edited by barabelsftwMaximum number of IG-88's
The designers said in the FFG interview that "It's a 36 point ship." So, one can safely assume all four are 36 points. Therefore, the maximum number possible in a standard game is 2.
It's a good question, but as the ships are likely to be identical and the pilot skill is identical, we might see a bit of variance on the points but not that much.
I'd imagine two IG88's will be the maximum you can field in a typical 100 point game. Of course, the different combinations of pilot abilities those two ships could have would be interesting...

...and to be honest all four in Epic are going to be crazy fun. Probably the scum list I am most excited to play/play against.
What is amazing is how FFG has assured itself many people will buy TWO ships. Usually, in Large ships people only own one of each.

That said, I have seen people fielding 4 x OGP Shuttles before. And 2/3 BH also seem quite popular...
(admittedly, double or triple Firesprays were as close as you could get to a Scum list before Scum was announced)

Most serious players in my area own at least two of each, and some own three Firesprays. Dual falcon, 2+ Firespray, and 2+ shuttle lists are quite popular in the local meta.
Im not saying nobody owns 2 of any large ship. But you are talking about expert players or players that specialize in some kind of ships (like Lambdas or Millennium Falcons). This is a ship that its main novelty needs you to buy two.
As neat as the IG-2000 title is, it is kind of funny how much of "you must buy more" card it is.
It is likely, though not NECESSARILY a "Must Buy More" card. If none of the pilot abilities go well together, or we discover that two IG2000s is not a sound strategy, then we don't need to buy more. Order 1 up front, see how they really play, buy more if you want them.
No matter what, it is a buy more card. It is unusable without a second purchase of the IG-2000. Whether it is a valid card to use or not is another matter. Could be fun for Epic though.
Point being, that might be irrelevant. Or, it might be the best way to field the ship. We will see.
No it is not unusable without a second card. Like any other elite pilot, each IG-88 has it's own ability whihc is perfectly usable on it's own. Having said that, the ability to borrow the pilot ability of another IG-88 on the table certainly encourages you to try more than one. Would be interesting to see a team epic game where each player brought two. I have ordered 2, but I have 2 of most larg based ships, and the agressor just looks weird to me. I just dont like it much, though I love IG-88.
I would have picked up two of them anyway, just because I like the squad building options of having two or more of each ship. The synergy is just a nice bonus. With all other large ships save the Decimator, I have the possibility of running at least three of them in the standard game. The way I see it, the IG-2000 is one that I won't be tempted to get more than two of.
I don't expect it to be a must-by-more ship. I expect it to be one that rewards copies, but can be effective, or at least interesting, on its own.

I generally order at least two of every ship for standard play. Its nice to get extra cards, have the option to field two, etc. I know some folks have short funds, but, some builds desire/require a hefty buy in. TIE swarm aint cheap, prior to the E-Wing dual B-Wings was a backbreaker. Overall though, the game is pretty affordable.

In a team game, I would think so.
that is what I would think. you still only have 2 "sides" in a team game. to pout it another way, suppose we showed up to play a team game, each with a 200 point list, then we decided that I would fly all the ywings and you would fly all the xwings, so we traded eachother some ships in our list. Perfectly legal AFAIK.
Another example, could dutch pass a target lock to your teammate? "why not, if it is a friendly ship in range?"
The possibilities of the ships in epic are certainly intruging. Until then, I see it as a beefy ship with three defence dice and a new type of movement, AND two cannon slots. That alone is pretty **** cool.
I was hoping for a 30, 33, 33, 36 or a 30, 33, 36, 36 point spread to allow for 3 Aggressors in 100 points, but that does not look like it will happen. A 30 point blank ship could have worked nicely in conjunction with the title.
Personally I think that the 36 point cost is already a bargain, easily compared to the Firespray.
I don't think there would be any variance in points between pilots.
If one has a great ability and costs much more and you have one that is meh but costs less then both can use the better ability for a cheaper buy in.
I imagine all will have situational abilitys so what 88 you bring depends on how you will want you squad to behave

Better stats vs rear firing arc. Tough choice
I wouldn't exactly call +1 Agility and -2 HP better stats. I need to see some more. The S-loop helps, but it is going to be a pain to dog fight with a Large base.
