Does anyone else avoid reading the spoilers"

By Sabre 7, in X-Wing

So when I first got into x-wing somewhere around wave 2, I was an avid reader of any and all spoiler articles released by ffg. My favorite part of Monday was opening the ffg page in the morning to see what new content had been revealed.

But, as I sat there unwrapping my freshly released imperial aces, I realized that the magic was gone. I had already seen every pilot, upgrade, etc months ago, and had read extensive discussions of each card as well.

Since wave 4 info started being released, I've been avoiding reading the spoilers in the hopes that release day will still retain that special feeling of discovering the new cards. Am I alone in this, or do others do this as well?

Bruce Willis is dead.

Bruce Willis is dead.

Yeah right--Pssh!

And Darth Vader is Luke's dad...like that would happen.

Well since I was born after "Empire Strikes Back, The" I have to say it was always spoiled form me. To be honest I never care much for spoilers, if I find something out before it happens or before I get to that part I don't feel bad nor do I feel shocked if there was something that I didn't expect. I'm used to spoilers, I don't mind surprises but I don't feel upset if I'm not surprised. Nor do I feel better if I already know something that others have yet to see.

I don't mind spoilers. Game of Thrones is the one exception simply because I watch that with friends and family and that way I don't know any more than anyone else. Spoilers for new X-wing stuff? I'm all over that.

I would but my friend is king of spoilers, another friend begged him not to bang on about 7th ed of 40k but he can't help himself.

Whether I read the articles or not I'll hear about every detail.

I avoid the spoilers like the plague. I am one of the few around here (apparently), that likes to open his gifts and be surprised. I know that many state that they want everything spoiled so they can plan for how many of each type they are going to buy, etc.

Since I know I will buy multiples of everything ( :P), I don't want to know. I truly wish all they would announce is what is being released, the estimated time it will come out, and the estimated cost. That should provide enough info for those attempting to plan on what to get, save money, etc., while still providing the excitement of opening the prize when it arrives.

I truly hate knowing everything, sometimes months in advance. Hell, take Rebel Aces for example. Given how long it has taken to get them, given how long things have been spoiled, I am not really all that excited to be getting them next week (in theory).

In addition, there has been so much analysis paralysis done on the ships, pilots, upgrades, etc. that that aspect seems to have suffered as well. I now have all of these preconceived notions as to how they should be utilized, etc. I want to discover this stuff on my own (both good combos and bad), and not have my thought processes and tests muddied by all of the previously released info. :( :o
