I am looking for a casual group of players in the Woodland Hills, CA Area. I would be willing to start one as well and even volunteer my apartment for initial play if needed.

Hi.. sorry for the late reply was out on vacation. Have you played in Organized Play? I haven't yet. What ships do you have? I have a large collection myself.

I almost didn't go to page 3 of this forum as I'd seen nothing in So Cal. Imagine my surprise at finding someone looking for players in my home town! So far, I've only got the core set, a b-wing, and the Slave-1. So I can get to 91 pts of rebels or 100 of imperials with what I own. With proxy upgrades, I can bump the rebels up to 100. Not very competitive lists, but that's ok. I'll be adding gradually to my rebels. The problem will be finding time...

I also live in North Hollywood. The local game shop, Emerald Knights has X-wing casual gameplay Tuesdays at 6 pm.

There are two shops that are rather close to Woodland hills: JJ's Game Lounge (Chatsworth) and The Game Ogre (Northridge). They both do X-Wing events every once in a while, and I often play with friends over at JJ's on Sat (as well as Infinity and 40K).
