Dice app

By klecser, in X-Wing

An early criticism of the FFG Star Wars Dice app is that there was not the ability to change the face of a die to reflect an ability or other mechanic. For example, using a focus token to change eyeball results to hits. Has this functionality ever been added to the app?

Perhaps more importantly, does this really matter in tournament play? Do most of you who use the app just say: "One of those eyeballs becomes a hit." Does the action of actually moving the die matter?

Yes, you are able to adjust any die result to any other result.

Yes, the dice app lets you modify results, but I don't think I'd ever need to. Just announce the changes. In fact, that's what I do with physical dice most of the time.

FGG needs an app that recreated attack, movement, and explosion sound effects.

Why on earth use an app when there are perfectly good dice to be rolled?

What are you talking about? With some programming skill and a knowledge of android and apple applications you can modify all the dice rolls to ALL Critical Hits or ALL Evades.

Its does have sound effects!

also it does look good on a big phone like the Note 2 which is what i have...

Thanks folks.

The x-wing soundboard app works great for sound effects!

Because the dice are more expensive, and terrible. Plus dice can get lost.

Well, I play the Star Wars RPGs as well and the app is more convenient for me since it auto calculates the results of a die roll. The app is also cheaper...$4.99 for unlimited numbers of dice as opposed to $14.99 for a limited number of actual dice that can get lost.

Yeah apps cheaper than real dice and I already own a tablet, we were forever swapping dice back and forth slowing the flow of the game.

It's a good thing no one has ever lost a phone ... or tablet for that matter ... :P

I'm sure someone has - I never have. Besides, it's insured, so even if I did, no biggie. I have lost dice though...

I downloaded the app but never use it as it takes longer to add and remove dice on my iphone than it does to just pick up real ones!

I use the starwars official soundboard sound effects when playing games. I keep that page open on the laptop while playing a game but we only use sound effects for particularly good shots or evades or manouvres or it slows the game down.
