Do you guys think FF will ever make these ships usable by rebels as well as imperials?? It should be very easy to accomplish too. Just new cards set and/or both a release with the new cards for the other faction. What do you guys think?
CR-90 and lambda shuttle usable by both factions.
I doubt it.
But what do I know?
Well long time ago in a galaxy not so far away I used to play Star wars: X-wing and those 2 ships were constantly being use by both imperials and rebels for many of the missions. I hope they could see the potential in releasing new cards for the opposite factions.
I both want and dread another CR-90 that's just got a more Imperial blue paint job. If I had a lot more time and money I'd do the blue stripes on one myself.
Edited by PenguinBonaparteI would like to see it too. The more diversity in the game the better, IMO. But I'm not holding my breath.
Anything is possible with this game. Both of those things are requested often enough that I think it's likely to happen eventually.

I think that had a *lot* to do with those games originally being released on floppy disk, and every model and asset shipped on them was ridiculously precious and had to be re-used as much as possible.
I *could* see the CR-90 going either way, but...the Imperial Shuttle?
I mean, watch 'Return of the Jedi', again. There is *nothing about* the Rebel's interaction with that shuttle, at any point from briefing to crewing it, that makes it sound like they've ever had one before. And if they WERE regularly using them (as the asset-sparing 'X-Wing' and 'TIE Fighter' PC games would imply)...why was the Empire so nonchalant about letting the Tyderium sail right by without the latest codes? Heck, if the Rebels were regularly using them...why did they have to steal one AT ALL?
Nah - the Rebels having these was really just an artifact from a different era. Art assets were sparse, and having different 3d models for the Imperials and Rebels for something as insignificant as a "passenger shuttle" was a non-starter. ESPECIALLY since the Republic-era leftovers that the Rebels realistically WOULD be using, like the Eta-class shuttle or Nu-class shuttle, had not yet been conceived of by the producers, yet...so. Let's not draw too many conclusions from the limitations of 90s-era PC games.
Edited by xanderfPersonally I think the CR-90 should have been available to both Rebel and Imperial factions from the get go. Lack of Imperial ships is preventing Epic play from reaching it's potential, and when you're spending that much money on a single miniature, the more use you can get out of it,the better.
THAT SAID...
...I have no way of knowing at all what FFG's plans are for Epic play, or what they've got in the pipeline for the Imperials.
I wish I did. ![]()

I think many people play that way because as of now there is not Imperial Huge ships. So it really isn't that fair to the Imperial players to say they are stuck on Large ships as they wait for FFG to make a Huge ship. (Although that VT-49 comes rather close when you compare it to the GR-75)
Xanderf, that's a really good point, I never thought of it that way! Makes you wonder what sort of transport and boarding craft the Rebels would have had then if all those Cygnus ships were exclusively Imperial military. Couldn't have just been lots of light freighters.

No.
Another ongoing edition of Short Answers to Long Questions.
(ps, the royalty check is in the mail. honest)
I don't think they will simply because FFG have said that they want the factions to be as varied as possible, albeit in different words. I think the only reason they crossed ships over with the S&V is because they had to produce a lot of options in a short time to make them competitive with the other factions, and the ships they did cross over make a lot of sense thematically.
How about Alliance to Restore the Republic TIE Fighters while we're at it.

Those TIEs belong to future rebel pilots that defected. That figure in thr picture is Hobbie Klivian.
