It depends on the ships orienation to the current as how much effect it really has; but if it has an engine and the are caculated into the navigation (which is a given with a professional crew) the effects are negilible (or factored into the arrival estimate)

the problem is it would take a a few hundred trips to get all of the required product across if the boat even has enough gas to cross the ocean
