What to get first?

By Garaaz, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I am debating getting into this game to run a campaign for 2 other people.

What should I start with?

Are any of the adventures better for a small group?

Will I need them to each play a couple characters?

My initial thoughts were to get the core set and one or two other add ons.

Well, after the Core set I usually recommend the four "chaos god boxes" (Winds of Magic, Signs of Faith, Omens of War, Lure of Power).

Personally I'd go with Winds of Magic (for the corruption rules) and Signs of Faith (for the disease rules).

But which order you get the "chaos god boxes" in depend a lot on your players. If you have a player wanting to play a wizard, Winds of Magic is recommended for example. If a player wants to be a noble character, Lure of Power might be the right box.

If both players want to be dwarves, Black Fire pass might be a better option though.

Having all four "chaos god boxes" gives you as a GM pretty complete game and the players will have a lot of different careers to choose from. All the boxes also contain short adventures that can be easily tweaked to fit two players.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I saw Enemy Within mentioned a lot and was debating that.

Although, after checking two stores this evening, it's not in stock. Amazon and ebay are both over retail. I may have to pass although I haven't given up yet.

It's still floating around ebay at auction and deals can be had and theres even private sellers getting rid of their collections on this very forum.

If you do manage to get hold of the core boxed set. I've got a copy of Winds of Magic (still shrinkwrapped and unopened) that you can have for the price I paid for it. In my haste to complete my collection I double ordered Winds of Magic & The Gathering Storm.

Failing all of those things you can always grab yourself a copy of the Players Guide and get you and your friends over to Fantasy Grounds to play WFRP3 online. Coincidentally. Our group has space for a couple of players so you'd be welcome at our table ;)
