[Solo Deck] Allies have to die

By 13nrv, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi Guys,

I read this forum since a long time but it's my first topic ;)
First of all, i'm french so sorry for my poor english :)

I would like to share with you one of my solo deck.
Like the title says, the deck try to trigger a maximum of effect when an ally leaves play.

First of all the list :

Hero: (3)

Glorfindel (Energy)
Prince Imrahil
Eomer

Starting threat : 26

Ally: (25)

3x Bofur
3x Envoy of Pelargir
3x Errand-rider
3x Warrior of Lossarnach
3x Ethir Swordsman
3x Knights of the Swan
3x Gandalf
3x Westfold Horse-breeder
1x Arwen Undomiel

Attachment: (16)

3x Horn of Gondor
2x Steward of Gondor
3x Gondorian Shield
3x Light of Valinor
2x Ancient Mathom
1x Firefoot
1x Rohan warhorse
1x Blood of Numenor

Event: (10)

3x Sneak Attack
3x A Test of Will
1x Men of the West
3x Valiant Sacrifice

Total Cards: (51)

Concept :

This deck was builded when i realized that the capacity of Prince Imrahil and Eomer will be triggered together.

The best way to show you how it works is by an example with Bofur energy :

Quest phase, i engage Prince Imrahil to quest.
I play Bofur energy for one ressource engaged in quest.
If i quest succesfully, Bofur leave play by returning to my hand.
Prince Imrahil is readied and Eomer gain +2 attack.

If i have Horn of Gondor in play, the below sequence is free because the capacity of Horn of Gondor is triggered.
If i have a valiant sacrifice in hand, the sequence for only one ressource become :

- Ready Prince Imrahil
- Eomer gain +2 attack
- Bofur add +2 willpower to quest
- I draw two cards

This sequence works also with sneak attack + Gandalf or when an ally is sacrified on an ennemy attack (except for the will bonus from Bofur ;) ).
If I have Glorfindel energy with a light a valinor, i have engaged for 7 willpower in quest and all my heroes are ready for combat phase.

The rest of the deck is oriented with allies which can be sacrified or with moving ressources capacity (Errand-rider and Pelargir envoy).
I choose outlands ally for their power and because they can be sacrified and then returned to my hand with Men of the west.
Prince Imrahil receive steward of Gondor in order to become a strong defender with Gondorian Shield and Blood of Numenor and also for paying Men of the west.
Glorfindel II receive Horn of Gondor because energy resources are precious and for the mechanic with Bofur energy.
Eomer is the principal attacker with his 5 attacks. So he receive Firefoot and Rohan warhorse in order to increase his attack and give him the capacity to attack twice in a turn.
Westfold Horse-breeder is in the deck because they are cheap, can tutor the below mount and can be sacrified after if needed.

This mechanic is very fun to play and quite performant.

Result :

I have played 112 games with this deck on scenarios from Core set to Voice of Isengard (except Rhosgobel and Dol Guldur) + Massing at osgiliath.
The ratio success/fail is very good.

Variant :

Somme variant is possible :

1) Adding more Blood of Numenor and Gondorian fire in order to transform Prince Imrahil on an ultimate warrior
2) Replace all outlands by small Gondor allies and add visionnary commandement.
3) Replace Eomer by Boromir (tactic) and add visionnary commandement.
This last choice is very good because the will power is increased with Boromir and Prince Imrahil and the two heroes have inner capacity to ready after questing.

Modification for multiplayer games :

Eleanor replace Glorfindel (Energy).

Eleanor capcity is very good in multiplayer game.

She is Gondor and could receive a Gondorian shield.

The lights of valinor is replace by hasty strokes.

I have played 10 multiplayer game with these modification and it works fine.

This deck is synergetic with new sylvan deck ;)

Thanks for having read this topic.

Wow, you have played 112 games with the same deck? Impressive!

I'm surprised you only have 1 copy of Firefoot and Rohan Warhorse. Are you usually able to get them in play? Although Eomer and Glorfindel can hit for 8 damage anyway, so you probably don't even the mounts much.

Have you thought about including Squire of the Citadel? He essentially costs 0 and is a good chump blocker. I thought for sure he would be in the deck.

Yes and it is a small part of my total games with other decks.

The mounts aren't mandatory, as you said Glorfindel + Eomer have 8 in attack ;)

Moreover i have Westfold Horse-breeder to search the mount in the deck.

The squire of the citadel is perfect in this deck.

I play them in my variant with gondor allies instead of Outlands allies.
