I'm new to this illeteration of Star Wars rpg, how does the move power work? I mean if I have a Force Rating of 2 and the basic Move power am I allowed to use the extra Force pips to exceed the limit of the basic power and move something silhouette 2 for instance?
How does the Force power Move actually work?
You can only spend pips on upgrades you've bought. Extra pips are wasted.
Each basic power is upgradable with additional experience. these upgrades let you expand the capabilities of the original power.
With move, you can spend additional force on strength (for bigger objects), magnitude (for more objects), and range (to manipulate them farther).
Control upgrades also can add additional capabilities (like gaining precision enough to manipulate switches, or throw something for damage). Some times control upgrades require additional force points, some times not.
Since FR corresponds to dice, and dice produce a random (though bell curved) amount of force points, sometimes you can move a rock, and other times a freighter.
Hopefully that helps to answer your question.
Yes it does thank you both very much.
Cool. Good gaming.
I had a potentially game-breaking idea with Move and grenades. Say I had a pair of grenades, one for each hand, set one on a one-turn timer, and on the next turn hurl them both using Move so they both explode at the same time on a single target (provided I get the pips for magnitude and range). The downside of this is, of course, that if I fail my move roll (darkside only and don't want or can't take the strain, or have the Destiny points to flip) then they both go off in my hand and I take the damage of both.
The other question is would I be able to use Move to substitute the Strong Arm (increase throw to medium range) ability, provided I've got the grenades readily available for the action?
Think this is too much rule-bending, or would it be a viable option?

No, no -- stop right there. Listen -- I grab starfighters and hurl them into the ground! Come back when you're through with the minor leagues...
Well, I couldn't afford to upgrade my strength by more than 2 yet. I can still slam swoops into the ground to give the riders a bad day.
...or each other....

Mechanically the concept is viable, yes, as long as the object being moved is within the silhouette range your character is allowed to act on. Any mechanics for hitting the target, conflict, etc would have to be determined by your GM, though, as they don't presently exist RAW. Now, as to whether or not your GM should allow it; that is a longer conversation and one that doesn't involve us.
uhm... are thermal detonators still minor leagues?
