The Temeraire series by Naomi Novak is an alternate history where dragons are involved in the Napoleonic wars (think Master and Commander with Dragons). I know I mentioned before about Leviathan series (Steam punk WW I with genetic modified beasts of war) but this also would be a good use for the same Star Wars X wing system. The other thing to consider is that Peter Jackson (Hobbit, LoTR movies) has bought the movie rights a while ago. This would be a good game license to get now before Jackson makes movies about this and a good excuse to have dragons and not worry about Wizard of the Coast copyright infringement. I recommend checking this out since you would have ships, dragons and land armies.
