If you have an ability say Akuma....R(4+): ,Once per turn, before a control check is made, that check gets -4. Failing this control check will not end the combat phase.

Can you commit foundations to help pass the control check or do you have to hard check a 4 or more? I know its been aswered before i just dont want to search for hours to find the answer?
