Nightmares in the Depths of Moria
****, these things are coming out crazy fast! I haven't even had a chance to play the first 3 Dwarrowdelf ones yet. Glad to have 'em though.
Blazing Grip is Brutal. I knew we were going to start seeing shadows that could not be cancelled.
I can't keep up with playing NM right now. Other than the quests I really like, most NM scenarios are on the back burner for now.
These seem both awesome and brutally difficult, I honestly shudder to think of HoN NM quests. I will keep to NM quests that "fix" old quests or those that make them relevant again (PTM, TRM, RtR etc) for now. I'd be very interested in reading play sessions and impressions from better gamers on these quests, because these seem a tad bit too hard for me personally maybe...?

I think we should stop talking about our successful decks. Clearly some designer hate here!
I've done the same with NM. I'm buying them and tucking away for later.

Ha, I'll never post another deck again.
Well you better just email it to me otherwise what decks would I use?!
Just wow.... cannot be cancelled and destroys all attached cards AND does one damage and then they have to cop the actual attack itself... yeah I do not like the design of this card one bit considering the only way to defend against the Balrog is chump blocking or building up defensive attachments. If he had his sword equipped when this shadow comes out its a one hit kill against more or less any hero (except Beorn) that cannot be cancelled....
As much as I get that nightmare decks should somewhat counter popular strategies to increase difficulty this just looks absurdly hard.... Personally I hope they do not do Nightmare for HoN and Against The Shadow cycle (Nightmare Encounter at Amon Din would be awesome though) and skip to Ring Maker or alternatively make nightmare quests that fix HoN and against the shadow and make them more thematic and fun rather than necessarily increasing the difficulty...
From what has been spoiled thus far The Long Dark and Foundations don't look too crazy hard but Shadow and Flame just looks brutacular. Has anyone played and beaten the first three nightmare dwarrowdelf quests yet?
This (Blazing Grip) really puts a premium on effects that can discard facedown shadow cards like Gandalf's staff, Rider of the Mark, Dawn Take You All, etc.
Looks awesome! Attack deck for Balrog is good idea. Long Dark shining now! Art of the cards really cool! I needed now!
The art on Primeval Thing, Giant Cave Centipede and Servant of Flame are crazy crazy good!!
Really want to see more enemies in this game that are briefly or vaguely mentioned in LOTR or other Tolkien works but never actually properly described. The various enemies in Nin-in-Eilph have me so excited and Primeval thing is along these lines as well.
Bring on bigger and nastier Umaiar and nameless beasts that have escaped the great wars of the first and second age.

Or Silver Lamp so that you can block an attack that has Blazing Grip as the shadow with a chump (with more than 1 health obviously) and can block an attack that has Morgoth's Bidding as the shadow with your buffed up defender.
all the cards look cool, creepy, and pretty darn difficult. just ordered my copies although like the others i havent even played
the 1st 3 darrowdelf ones. still cool though. I almost wonder if this release is consolation for the road darkens being
delayed yet again

If I recall correctly, Gandalf's staff won't work as it cannot discard shadow cards from unique enemies.
On the side note, I call out to loremasters here:
Is Servant of Flame even legal? An Uruk serving under the Barlog? Wut?
Edited by MyNeighbourTrololoYup, you're right about that. Rider of the mark and dawn take you all it is! I do really like Silver Lamp for this quest too.
As for the lore question, Balrogs served as lieutenants for Morgoth back in the day and commanded Orc armies. On the other hand, it's unflear the exact relationship between Durin's Bane and the orcs of Moria, if I remember correctly. They definitely were in fear of the Balrog, but I don't think they took orders from it. Of course, if the Balrog had remained alive, it coukd have taken on this kind of lieutenant role for Sauron in the war, which is why Gandalf's destruction of it was pretty crucial.
Wow yeah I enjoy nightmare quests for making the easy quests more playable, Shadow & flame does not fall under that category. I don't think that will be something I'm willing to try for a long time. But the Long Dark is definitely a quest I'm interested in seeing revived.

I have tried and failed so far to conquer the Redhorn Gate and Road to Rivendell NM. The RG NM is very very awesome. Definitely the best quest in NM so far. The difficulty level on both those quests is just teasing enough that you know you can beat it just have to try really hard. Though Sleeping Sentry is still obnoxious, need Elanor...
Oh sorry the middle part of my last post was copied from PhyscoRocka
Don't worry, pal, just take Galadriel and Durin's Bane will never attack you.
got to love the art... the insect looks very chaurus like (skyrim, for those who havnt heard
)
Yes Galadriel looks like really keep Balrog away but maybe there will be some doom cards addition

I remember that back then in MECCG you could play as the Balrog, and you had many orcs and trolls as followers/slaves. When I saw the title "Servant of Flame" I was hyped. Maybe they had developed a bunch of enemies representing the Balrog's servants and followers? But I was really dissapointed. Instead they made that enemy into a Mordor orc for some reason. It seems they just missed a great opportunity to give the Balrog a little more depth. The art is awesome though.
The two new Shadow and Flame treachery cards are interesting... they have no effect when simply revealed from the encounter deck. How nice is that? With some good encounter deck scrying/manipulation, you can guarantee never to see this as a shadow card. ![]()
Nevermind... I just read the Nightmare card that specifies that it goes into a deck specifically for the Balrog's shadow cards. Sigh.

Im my opinion that orc was send from Mordor to check what going on there in Moria. And he got some Balrog power since they both Sauron and Balrog use flame of Udun.
