Ok. I'm convinced. Will try it more.
Sensor Jammer use?
I ran it on a sigma squadron pilot with stigium accelerator and rebel captive. By the time my opponent decided to deal with the cheapo phantom it was too late.
There is one confusion on when Sensor Jammer applies its effect. For example a Z-95 rolls 1 hit. But the defender is in the arc of Etahn. The attacker wants to modify the dice to a critical but the defender said sensor jammer modifies it to a focus first. Now the rules said that the attack dice are modified before defense dice. Still it doesn't say who modifies dice first. Now since sensor jammer does state that the hit switched to focus can't be rerolled as in modified by Target Lock. This is the sequence of an attack dice modification we came up with.
Attack Dice rolled
Defender modifies dice (Sensor Jammer, R-7)
Attacker modifies dice (Focus Target locks)
Any dice that can be rerolled using an ability may be rerolled(Han or howlrunner)
Defense Dice rolled
Defense Dice modified
Hits and Damaged applied
Attack ends.
Another note is to separate dice that can no longer be rerolled for that attack (as in Sensor jammer modified or already rerolled once using TL or ability) Dice that are modified by focus or abilities can still be rerolled as long as ability states otherwise or modified after a reroll)
Edited by MarinealverNeither player can reroll a rerolled die. Is a rule.
Sensor Jammer simply says that die can't be rerolled. So similar effect.
The question is then: Does Etahn let you modify the hit to a crit first? or does Sensor Jammer let you modify it to a focus first.
(Then if the attacker has a focus, they can re-change it to a hit, and then Etahn can change it to a crit).
I think defenders are allowed to change dice first. So if the attacker doesn't have a focus, Etahn won't change it to a crit.
I'd really love for someone to find where that is in the rulebook though. I can only remember, but thats about it.
Edited by Blail BlergRule book, Pages 10 through 12 explain the order for dice being modified.
Read every word on those three pages. It's even broken down as easy-to-follow steps.

What TezzasGames said, its explained completely in the rules. On attacks, defender modifies the attack roll first, then on the defense roll the attacker modifier the defense die first.
The sensor jammer card specifically says the di that is modified cannot be rerolled, and dice can only be rerolled once in a modification round anyhow.
Edited by Hujoe BigsOn a side note, generic E-wings are amazingly durable with sensor jammer. Almost makes me wanna run them with stealth device as well but that is starting to be a BIG point sink. 33 isnt bad for a PS3 high agility, decent health, good attack, and durable ship.

For attack dice defender modifies first then the attacker. For Defense dice attacker modifies first then the defender. Page 11 and 12 thanks.
Now come to think of it R-7 can make some interesting results 2 hits and 2 blanks R-7 will spend target lock to reroll the 2 hits and attacker will spend Target Lock to reroll the 2 misses.
Edited by MarinealverI've actually been considering using this on the Virago (Starviper), particularly on Xizor. The idea is to simply force your opponents to either use Focus to damage Xizor, or to attack his escorts because they're less annoying targets. Since Xizor's ability is to pass of resolved damage to his allies I thought making him a less desirable target while having him fly with heavily armed but still irritating targets (Firesprays, generic and cheap Starvipers, possible flankers). Xizor can make use of any elite talents he might use to increase or improve the potency of his attacks while not suffering as much from being shot at, or if he is hit with Focused attacks he has improved counterattacks with him and his crew.

Looking at PX I would tool him up to do damage and surround him with ScumZies. If he takes 5 attacks that is 5 damage I can spread around keeping all my ships in the game as long as possible. When it comes to units that can't be replaced after getting knocked out everyone know you focus on one unit at a time until it is knocked out. Interrupting that focusing effort is great for defense strategy.
On the topic of modification order, can an attacker whose dice have been rerolled through R7 reroll his own dice or does R7 block that as it is, in fact, a reroll?
Does anyone know the cost effectiveness of Sensor Jammer? Mathwing?
*shines a big M in the air.

You cannot reroll.

Now that doesn't mean that it is a guaranteed miss or stops rerolling all together. The obvious choice for R-7 is to reroll all hits, but lets say the attacker also has a target lock or is Han Solo. Do you choose to reroll the blanks too and risk turning them into hits, or do you ignore the blanks knowing full well that the attacker will just reroll them after you forced him to reroll his hits? I guess that's why TAR-7 builds are not that popular. They work great if the first attack is all hits, however it is not exactly a reroll blocker like Sensor Jammer and upgrades like gunner can still just blow right by especially if you modify and cancel all hits.
I think its the best you can put in a low ps phantom. Plus stygium and recon sp. It makes the ship more durable than you would expect for a 2agi ship. And when cloaked, with focus, evade and this, you are UNTOUCHABLE

Coming late to the party with my comment:
My son ran Chewy with Gunner and Draw Their Fire and 2 Blue Squadron B-wings with Sensor Jammer at Worlds last year. In one game the 2 Sensor Jammers saved him a total of 9 points of damage!!!! Overall, the Sensor Jammers were a big part of why he went 4-1 and made the top 16! I was sold at that point!

They do stop 1 hit every attack. The only counter is focus.
