Teleportation question in the expansions question (Dungeon, City, Highlands)

By Yokrin, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hi,

Can someone please clarify about teleporting in the expansions of the Dungeon, City, and Highlands?

Can you teleport from anywhere in an expansion (dungeon) from lets say the beginning of the region to the end? An example would be you are the Leprechaun and you entered the dungeon, On your next turn during your movement roll you rolled a 6. Can the Leprechaun teleport straight to the end of the dungeon?

Thank you

If an effect says that you can teleport to any space in your Region, it literally means any space, including the end space.

The only exception is the Jail; nobody can enter that space unless an effect specifically puts them there. Not even the Reaper can go in.

I also believe there is no teleporting in the inner Region, this includes I believe, the Dragon expansion inner region insert. I could be wrong tho...

The Teleport spell and the Leprechaun's teleport ability don't work in the Inner Region since they require a die roll for movement. You can teleport in the Inner Region using Arnkell or Transference, though.

I don't have the full experience of Firelands expansion, but is it possible a Terrain card could be placed on the Plain of Peril, and then subsequently a card drawn there, like a rune gate, which could allow teleportation there?

Also, isn't there a cloak and a potion that allows teleportation? Not sure if it needs a die roll, which of course would circumvent that.

No, Terrain Cards cannot be placed in the Inner Region.

The Nomad can draw cards on any space, except in the Inner Region. I don't know if there's a way to draw cards in the Inner Region, probably it's something that designers have always avoided.

Flight Potion, Flying Carpet, Dreadwing or Amulet of Speed are triggered by the movement die roll, so they cannot be used in the Inner Region.

Cloak of Feathers, a Treasure found in the Dungeon, can be discarded instead of normal movement to teleport to another space in the same Region, so it works in the Inner Region.

Yes, I was thinking of the Cloak in the Dungeon, thanks

Eww Hew!, Cloak of Feathers! I will have to show off my knowledge against my friends! More Dungeon exploring for me!

Cloak of Feathers was a popular way to quickly skip the Inner Region, but mostly among players who chose which Treasure to take after defeating the Lord of Darkness.

We have always played with random Treasure cards, so we never cared much about the Cloak. On the contrary, Arnkell is easier to get and it has decided a good number of games.

Yeah we do either:

- beat Eagle King over and over till you get Arnkell (easier but longer), or

- beat Lord of Darkness and choose Cloak of Feathers (harder but shorter).

In either case go through portal of power and skip Inner Region. (Don't worry about beating Lord of Darkness by 8+ because Cloak after portal is easier).

If you anticipate boss ending, get Str or Cft up to enough to beat boss (Cft especially if Demon Lord is in there) and then go to dungeon, beat LoD, choose cloak.

That's what we do! :)

We usually, almost always, play with the random treasure in the Dungeon.

I think we've rarely received or used Arnkell, so maybe we should check it out.
