Grievous Wounds: The Road Darkens Preview

By blinky, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

He's up.

Well the delay is massively disappointing but so be it nothing we can do about it, some kind of distribution hang up no doubt . As for the article itself I think this second quest is going to be really interesting with all the combinations of how to beat it. Greater choice within the encounter decks themselves always makes for better play experiences. As people have mentioned previously I really hope we see Narya as this is pretty much the "Gandalf expansion" as much as black riders was the hobbit expansion. Aside from the effect Narya would have I also think it would be fitting if it gave him the leadership sphere if only because his rune is the spheres symbol (also the other rings give lore and spirit and tactics doesn't seem as fitting).

Been checking the Facebook page every like 15 minutes for Boromir ha. Obsessed

He's up.

Ahhhhhh

The final 2 cards is a pipe attachment and ally version Galandriel.

Galadriel and another Gandalf attachment

Lol, and I thought I had been imprudent by teasing somehow the rest of the cards. And these guys get a free pass?

It doesnt matter at this point. Its not like there is NDA or anything...

This might be a pretty stupid first post but why are there only two and not three cards still missing? The description page mentions 9 player cards, one of them being the Fellowship of the Ring, and the Gandalf preview article mentions two cards, Gandalf's staff and Flame of Anor. This leaves 6 cards. Now we do know from the about page that there are four unique allies but only three of them have been named so far: Steven Seagal Elrond, Bilbo Baggins and Boromir. Aren't we missing three cards now, i.e. one more unique ally and two more other player cards?

By the way, given Bilbo's ability, I would not be surprised to see another Pipe attachment in this set. Anyone thinking the same? Or is one Hobbit Pipe enough for everyone else?

The spoiled cards so far:

1 - Frodo Baggins (Hero)

2 - Gandalf (Hero)

3 -

4 -

5 - Elrond (Ally)

6 - Bilbo Baggins (Ally)

7 - Flame of Anor (Event)

8 - Gandalf's Staff (Attachment)

9 -

10 - Fellowship of the Ring (Attachment)

The Boons start at 11 with Sting. Given the standard system of numbering the cards by heroes, allies, events then attachments, I'm guessing Boromir will be 3 or 4 which leaves one more ally and one more attachment. As you suggest, a Pipe is probably likely. :)

I'm thinking we're also getting 1 Leadership card (event or attachment) & 1 (event or attachment) could be any sphere.

I would absolutely love more members of the fellowship as allies, e.g Gimli or Legolas to give us more options - but i'm not so optimistic.

Thus far in all of the saga expansions, the order of the cards were heroes, allies, events, and then attachments. Judging by the list of what we have right now, we're pretty much guaranteed another ally and another attachment. The ally will likely be Leadership because that's the only sphere we don't already have revealed for allies, but that's no guarantee. The attachment can be pretty much any sphere since the only ones we know about are neutral and fellowship, which leaves us with all 4 spheres and potentially another neutral or fellowship attachment. Given that it's coming after a neutral attachment, and neutral cards are generally listed after the 4 main spheres, I wouldn't be surprised if it was another neutral or fellowship attachment.

Do we know if we are getting Narya or not?

I haven't heard anything confirming or denying that.

Check Facebook folks!

Looks like it will be a pipe then.

How do you guys know about Galadriel and the Pipe? Is it a neutral pipe?
