[Commission paintjob] AEG-77 Vigo

By MacrossVF1, in X-Wing

That is one ugly ship! On the other hand, its boxy shape should make it a bit easier to build, just like you're assuming.

Hey now! That's the ship my RPG character has been flying since '97! ;) (That color illustration is pretty awful though).

Wow!!! Speechless!

Amazing!!! Is it nearly the same size as the Falcon in perspective?

I love it! What dial are stats are you planning to use?

I say, done well done, old sport!

I love the job, I really want to see the stats, if you do, plase share with us, greettings.

It's about 15cm long while a Falcon is about 13cm. It is not as wide however and I suspect that the overall volume of a Falcon is greater.

I don't do stats, I keep myself occupied building and painting. Also, since this was a commission, I don't get to keep it.

Awesome work, nicely done.

I wanted to throw this out to the community to see if there's any genuine interest.

If you could pick up a resin kit of this model (unpainted and unbuilt), how much would you be willing to pay and how many would you want?

Making molds and pouring casts is a pricey endeavor. If there are enough people who want it, this might be a possibility.

PM me, if you're interested. And let me how much you would pay for a resin unpainted and unbuilt AEG-77.

Well I mean no offense to the man who built it when I say this, but...

If I buy an AEG-77 Vigo, and it costs a pretty penny, it needs to be the proper size, too. Which puts it at a size larger than the GR-75.

How do you figure that? I, together with patox, researched this ship quite thoroughly before building it and nothing we found indicates it should be that big. The most commonly referenced size is 45 meters long and while that might be wrong, it most certainly do not exceed the size of a GR-75.

It was an incredibly large ship in SWG, one of the biggest in the game you could fly- the problem is that while SWG's artists amazingly thorough with scale, they never -documented- it, leaving us wondering the size of many ships, such as the Y-8 Mining ship.

Indeed, the AEG-77 Vigo was a behemoth.

Check out the size of that bridge. That should be a solid place to go from size-wise.

It is a very large vessel.

yeah... that bridge looks like it fits perfectly in the space he provided on top there.. just my observation. also looking at some of the other videos it seems to be the right scale..

you may feel differently, but I can see why they figured it to this scale..

EDIT

In one video it blows up a sentinel class shuttle and as the shuttle goes sailing past it looks smaller than the shuttle..

check around the 2 minute mark.. the fight goes quick after that

Bro that ain't no sentinel shuttle. That is a vessel significantly larger than a sentinel shuttle.

That's the YE-4 Gunship. A fairly large ship in its own right.

Meh.. I think I know what happened.. I'm mixing up ships types.. hmmmm more research..

I pretty much have to go with Lackwit on this one. The ship in that video is pretty clearly the gunship. For starters it doesn't have 3 wings, only the 2 in-line, vertical ones. I can also make out through the game text the 2 turrets mounted on the "shoulders" (which separate the gunships two hull sections). I grant that the upper wing doesn't look quite right compared to the picture above, but you only see that as the ship is blowing up and things are spinning at odd angles and such.

It is unquestionably neither a sentinel nor a lambda, the lack of a 3rd wing proves that, and the gunship pictured above is a really good fit.

yeah, my brain is thinking of something.. I just have to find it to be sure.. sigh.. I can admit when I'm wrong.. just need to figure out what my brain is seeing.. lol

Patox was really good at digging up pictures of the Vigo and two in particular stood out. The first had a couple of ships in it, amongst them a YT2400 that was fairly close to a Vigo. The other was of a crashed Vigo which had a human standing next to it. I used both of these pictures to extrapolate the width of the ship and after that is was a small matter of concluding that the Vigo should most likely be around 45-50 meters long. Still, due to the fact that the ship has no official size, it's really anyones guess on how big it truly is. My calculations said 45 meters and that's what I've based the ship on. I can do no more than that.

I have a picture of a Vigo from SWG on the ground. Would that help figure the size out?

Yeah, if you have a picture from another angle that would be helpful.

I really mean absolutely no offense by the way. the model is a wonderfully detailed and supremely well, if somewhat light, painted ship. It's really really well done.

I'm just a stickler for accuracy. The only reason I excuse the A-Wing in FFG's stuff is because the stock paintjob is the best stock painjob I have ever seen on anything.

I dont think anyone is offended Lackwit, but I know a lot of us are sticklers for details, like scale. I'm sure they want to be as acurate as possible. I still feel they are on the money, but milage may differ with use lol.

here's one with a Vigo Flying alongside a Decimator.

I'dgo 1-3 paying -$40 canadian.

Well that second picture with the Decimator certainly proves in my mind that a Vigo can't be much longer than 45 meters.

Captain Lackwit: I was certainly not offended. I'm well aware that many Star Wars ships are hard to pinpoint the exact size on. Just look at the A-wing, its size has been discussed for years despite being both well known and featured in the original trilogy.
