I love my battlefoam, great stuff for the ships. Not quite as good for all the tidbits. I use a bead tray I picked up from Walmart for all the tokens. It fits in the front pocket of my battlefoam pack. I am thinking of trying to cut some of my own custom foam trays for cards and dials and such though. I just need to find some good foam to cut that is roughly 1.5"

I am debating, and listing the pros and cons of the battlefoam create your own foam plate versus the pluck foam. So any deep insights into the before mentioned would be great. My collection has grown and will continue to grow that will eventually outgrow my Plano boxes.
The thing I like about my Battlefoam is that it is what I want/need. As much as plano is cool and all, I don't want to carry 3-5 of those cases around. My collection currently fits all in one case, and if I need to I already have an expansion plan for a second case, and as more waves come out more trays can be ordered to fit the two cases I'd own already.
The one downside to Battlefoam is that it seems more expensive. I say seems because in the end, Plano boxes aren't free, and in order to get the amount of storage that I have available I'd be paying around 3/4 of the cost of getting the bag I did.
To put it in reference, I got a custom load out Mantic Bag ($89.99), and my second bag will be a custom load out Spartan Bag (79.99). Both hold roughly the same amount of foam in different configurations.

I have managed to fit my brand new Xwing collection into a box I had lying around. I do have 4 KR cases for my warhammer stuff but I have used this plastic box for the time being for Xwing. Just make sure you keep the original plastic 'case' they come in and be handy with a pair of scissors. I have shuffled the cards around and I will be able to fit my Rebel Aces in there (if they come this side of Christmas!) and I will glue an A4 plastic wallet on the outside to put all the rules and mission cards in.

Here's what I use. You can arrange the boxes the way you want, so I've got one box for ships and one for cards, tokens and stuff.
I just received my battle foam bags the other week. I intend to make my own foam trays as the shipping costs to Australia is prohibitively expensive. I will be making a special 2" tray that has generic squares and rectangles to hold ships between waves until there is enough stuff to make it worth making up a specific tray for them.
Just got the Plano 727 and love it. Fits everything I have with room for more.

I would make a rash assumption and say you might be in the USA. As a matter of interest what sort of price did you pay?
I can get those here in the UK for £45 (about $72) and I wonder if they are cheaper over there? (All the plano stuff certainly is)
Battle Foam for the ships and a random customizable container for the counters. I'm currently using a P.A.C.K. 432, but will probably move up to either a P.A.C.K. 720 or 1520XL when Armada comes out.
I have a Battlefoam P.A.C.K. 720 and swear by it. However I am quickly running out of room. Theoretically I have figured out that the most efficient storage method for custom trays is to do it by ship thickness's. While everything does fit on a...4'' thick tray (I think) it's more space efficient to store the 'flatter' Z-95/X-Wings/A-Wings on a thinner tray allowing me to double the space for them in the most space efficient way.
My only problem...is figuring out the optimal thickness of foam for each ship. I don't have a tape measure laying around sadly.

4" thick??!! I just finished making my own foam trays and everything but the Tantive IV fits in 1.5" foam, including the decimator and the rebel transport.
Incidentally, Z, X, Y and Es all fit nicely in 1". The As would too, but I found they work better if you stand them on end instead of laying flat, and then you need 1.5". Bombers and Advanceds also work well on end. Interceptors and phantoms didn't quite work with just 1", but if you had foam padding above them too they would probably be alright.
The Plano options are great and I may use one for my tournament kit, but I've also enjoyed these organizers from Stanley. You can find them on Amazon listed as "Stanley 014725 25-Removable Compartment Professional Organizer". The removable trays are great for tokens and also fit the ships well. You can leave space on the side for templates by leaving out a few trays.

Easily has fit templates and dice from two core sets, laser line, and tokens from all my ships.
Below is my Imperial case. The shuttle is a little snug, but it fits if you don't use a tray. All other normal and large base ships have fit fine with no worries.

Rebels below. You can use the plastic that comes with the boxes to stabilize the larger ships such as the Falcon.

I used to store my cards in these cases as well, but just switched to an UltraPro book for ease of finding what I need right away.
