The Most Complete Chart of Sci-Fi Ships Ever

By mouthymerc, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Here. For those that wondered about size comparisons between Star trek and Star Wars or Warhammer or mass Effect and so on.

You wanted to post this, right? ;)

That's cool too.

Love how most of the EU authors solution to new ships usually started with "Ummm... a Super-duper star destroyer?"

I always hated that part. Logically new designs in the Corvette Frigate, and small Cruiser classes (Say ships up to sil 7) would come out as often if not more often then the battleship classes but that almost never happens in the EU, and what new small and midsize warships classes are introduced in the EU rarely appear in more then one or two sources before vanishing, often with the models from the OT that they were intended to replace in setting still appearing regularly in events set decades after the new model's introduction while the new model is basically unheard of.

Edit: Though the movies themselves encourage such thinking. In the OT the only imperial capital warships we saw were Battleships while in the PT the smallest capital warship we saw was one class very large Cruiser with all of the other on screen warships being Battleships. And while TCW gave the Republic a couple of Gunship models the Separatist onscreen fleet remained a purely Battleship force. (I consider the Consular a Gunship even though its listed with the Cruisers in AOR because it is both smaller and more lightly armed then any of the other Gunship designs in the book. I think it just got put with the Cruisers by mistake because it has the word cruiser in it class name. Even TCW rates it an Escort rather then a Cruiser.)

Personally, I also prefer the medium to large sized and classical vessels. Especially ones with background stories like the Lucrehulks or Munificent that are converted freighters. When the only background story is "Evil Admiral XYZ rose to power, built a ship that was even bigger and even "invincibler" than the ones four Evil Admirals before him built but was ultimately defeated by ABC Squadron's five and a half X-wing", I kind of ignore them.

What I like about Jeff Russell's page is that you can move the ships around to compare the five you like, no matter what Movie they come from.
