Alright, so plain 8 academy TIEs is pretty alright.

Could rebels ever get close to this?

Good, decent, or strictly worse than 8x academy TIE? Dies to Phantoms and Falcons?
The idea of a rebel swarm is cool to me, is it viable?

I can't see it being much worse. We start down a ship, but have +1 HP across the remaining seven so we're actually up by 4 hit points in the end. Plus half of our HP is shields, so we're a little less vulerable to criticals. And we have Target Locks to help offset the slight firepower disadvantage. And 2 of our ships are guaranteed to shoot first.


Should be interesting. It definitely won't die to Falcons; swarms are the natural enemy of Falcons, and one that packs shields and TLs should do pretty well. Phantoms might be a different story.

I'd change the bandits for Blount with a Assault Missile and Deadeye. A bit less swarmy but also scares other swarms.

But that's just me. I try to include Blount in all my rebel lists.

Part of fun for me is not getting knocked out in the first couple rounds of a tourney. The better odds you have of hanging in there with a fun list, the more fun you can have! Optimally a list would be both fun and good.

Why would you take eight academies when you could take four Academies and four Obsidians?

Two reasons: 1) the spare 4 points gives you the ultimate initiative bid, ensuring you move first and get to block the enemy, and 2) having all ships the same PS allows you to move them in any order you want, making it easier to avoid roadblocks.

If you don't have enough Predators, you can swap in some Outmaneuvers. If one is a Wingman, then you've got room for a Hull Upgrade. I think this would be a very fun squad to face off against your swarm.
