Finally have a list I like, now time for you to tear it apart

"Nowhere to Run"

"Whisper" - 32

Veteran Instincts - 1

Intelligence Agent - 1

Fire Control System - 2

Advanced Cloaking Device - 4

Bounty Hunter - 33

Recon Specialist - 3

Saber Squadron Pilot - 21

Push the Limit - 3

100pts

If you like it why would you want people to tear it apart? Second guessing what you like is horrible in xwing. If you enjoy it and it's doing well for you, then maybe no change is necessary.

Looks scary

Guess it was a bad way to word the title...input and/or ideas is what I'm looking for...an outside looking in kind of perspective...sorry for the bad title of the post, kind of misleading...

I'm going to run a list similar to yours in an upcoming shop tourny.

Whisper + ACD + VI + Rebel Captive

Bounty Hunter + Tactician

Academy Pilot x2

99 Pts

This can throw around a fair bit of stress (I just learnt that Tactician works with the auxiliary fire arc, which in my opinion near doubles the value of that card on a Firespray) and you have a couple cannon fodder ships for some blocking in order to really help take advantage of Whispers maneuverability. Or just use them for flanking. And if you face a Fat Han, your Phantom will be a less desirable target for the turret.

But if you really like the list you built, then I would go with it. Use what feels right for you and you will probably find that it will more suit your playing style. Plus its more fun that way. That's my 2 cents.

Its a good list.

The Saber Squad Pilot may struggle a bit, PS 4 is pretty low these days and interceptors need higher PS to be really effective. I would trade the PTL for a higher pilot skill. You lose the Barrel Roll & Boost option, but you make up for it by being able to take 1 and 3 maneuvers (and can K-turn in pinch). I would go with one of the 24 point ones, probably Kir Kanos or Tetran Cowell. I think that it comes down to taste/flying style more than one being more effective than the other.

Looks like a standard Imp list. Only thing I would say is it's definitely not original. It looks pretty "meta safe/strong" (cringe).

I like that you have a tough ship to roll center, and Recon Specialist can make Firesprays really tough. That should give you a rock for your two flankers to fly around.

If you deal with a fat han, you can close with either flanker, and your interceptor can turtle and drive in close to try to sucker him into shooting. Those dice may fail you, but 3 agility with a focus and evade is no joke.

I don't know about Intelligence Agent personally, but then, i don't have a lot of experience yet flying Phantoms. I do prefer Whisper over Echo right now, but like I said, I just started using them and use them only in secondary lists, not my main ones.

I think Whisper's Focus on attack with VI and ADC gives the 4 agility plus focus for defense, and if you focus on your action, lets you use that for your attack. With FCS, you'll need to basically pick something and burn it down, but many lists sport 1 MVP and a support group, so that shouldn't be an issue. Plus, you can always leave the lock for a second pass.

I don't think you need to change anything, just give it a go and post a report. I love Interceptors with PtL, so I think that'll perform better than 2 Academy Pilots, but that also depends on your opponent.

True, intelligence agent works for both Whisper and the Saber allowing(if need be) to maneuver behind an enemy ship(worthless against turrets but so is a PS6) and a saber without PTL is a dead saber

Recon Spec BH is great.

Whisper should lose Intel Agent and FCS (you won't use it much, as everyone goes before you) and take Rebel Captive.

I prefer two Ties for extra firepower over the Saber with PTL.

Love TIEs and can def get on board with that! I just have an obsession with squints :)

I'd guess the only reason to have the Intel Agent in there is as a bit of insurance for when you lose the PS battle. Aside from that I'm not sure it is worth having when you could use it to upgrade the PS on the Saber.

An Intelligence Agent crew on Whisper to help the Saber Squadron decide where to go is clever. I like that list a lot. It would probably be more consistent with 2 TIEs instead of the Saber, but the Saber will be of greater help against high-agility opponents.

Ahh. actually wait. Your list is terrible. It needs to be taken apart.

Whisper? Seriously? Who uses that pilot in this day and age?

Maarek Stele has WAY more damage potential. Let's start there. ACD is primarily to get you up to 4 agility dice, so I recommend Stealth Device. You save 1 point too! And, well. you need something powerful to attack with, so let's take a Proton Rocket. PTL will give you the ability to get a TL and F.

The Saber is underused. People think its kinda gimpy. You should go with Fel's Wrath. I mean, can you even THINK of a better ability?

That Bounty Hunter is not very good. But since you like them, we'll keep it in. It needs some teeth though. And some defense. So let's add those.

Drop the Intelligence Agent on Whisper; he doesn't really need it over being PS9 and you could really use the point for an initiative bid which Whisper really wants. I would also take two Academies over the Saber. More blocking, more hit points, more red dice.

Your list has no defenders in it, it sucks harder than a sarlacc.

You could lose the Intel Agent and upgrade the Saber to a Royal Guard. That's a nice PS6 ship, keeps your Interceptor and really negates the need for the Intel Agent.

Other than that, go for it, looks like a fun list to fly

I'd keep the intelligence agent. A lot of people are taking PS8-9 plus veteran instincts just to take on Wisper. 1 point is a fine investment for such situation.

Personally I'd go for a doom shuttle instead of the saber. It goes last and the crit will help you to finish of a ship or getting it crippled as soon as the shields are gone.

Big fan of the BH, a good sack of health to have to chew through....

The list is alright in the current meta, you will struggle against the Fat Falcons of the world. They will out PS your entire list and due to their 360 firing arc, make the maneuverability of the Phantom and the PTL Interceptor basically useless. They'll most likely be dead before they can shoot.

It will do well against TIE Swarm as it high health is the bane of that list, put you can get behind it quick. Also good for the 4-5 ship Rebel Builds as well.

Overall, a good 'paper' list in the rock-paper-scissors meta we live in today.

I like the idea of Intellegence agent on Whisper. It sounds like it could be fun.

I am not saying your saber+PtL is bad, but I would almost always prefer two TIEs, especially with Whisper slipping around everywhere. The TIEs give you opponent something to shoot at, incentive to ignore Whisper.
