EXPANSIONS - Official announcement

Here the official announcement about Hernfar Guardians and Warbands of Scorn

Nice minis :)

Awesome!

I was very disappointed when I heard about these from GenCon (because I really wanted new factions), but after reading the announcement, I NEED THESE!

I am so impressed at how these are looking. As we all predicted, we now have magic users, the Casters. I'm glad those are the familiar wizards of Greyhaven and Bloodsisters from the Covenant of Blood. The new terrain tiles were totally unexpected for me, but sound very interesting, especially the Blood Fields. I'm also looking forward to customizing the Lore deck. I can't wait to get my hands on those rules.

The Siege Golem looks powerful, but I'm even more interested in what it will be like commanding the Ironbound since you use Lore to command them. Could be very interesting. And since the Daqan Lords generally don't use Lore for abilities, they should have plenty of Lore for ordering these units if needed.

But above all, I'm excited for the Doombringer. I get to bring a giant spider into my battles over Terrinoth? Sign me up right now!!

Yes. New factions would have been an interesting addition to the game, but these new units add an incredible variety to what we already have. More options and more combinations and a challenge: to structure the perfect army for every scenario. With core game only, you never changed too much: Rune Golems for defending VP banners, Archers on hills or forest hexes to attack from distance, and so on. Or, if you're an Uthuk, you know you want the Flesh Ripper Brutes for this task and the Obscenes for another one. So, basically, also considering the 50 muster points limit, often the same units were fielded again and again. In this way, we now have countless combo to explore. Plus, the three new terrains. Also, the fact that the two packs are sold separately should give more options to get what you want: a "only Daqan" player will expand his army, while leaving on the shelf the other pack.

New factions will come, with the passing of time, I'm pretty sure of that (otherwise why setting the game in the Runebound universe?)

The new terrain tiles were totally unexpected for me, but sound very interesting, especially the Blood Fields.

Barricades are also an interesting options. Blood Fields and Crystal Spires require your units to be there to gain the bonus. Barricades provide defensive power to your key positions so that actually they work for you even if your armies are on coffee break :)

I am very much hoping for new factions to show up eventually as well. My girlfriend always only want to play elves lol. One of my friends prefers playing dwarves. Me, I play whatever. The game holds huge promise with new factions based on how unique they managed to make each faction feel. I can't wait for the other races to join the fray (Undead, Orcs, Dwarves, Elves).

Not that these army packs don't look cool and I will be getting them, but more factions is what I consider to be proper expansions (and seeing as these are actually called "army packs" I just think of them more of as an extra 'addition' to core game).
