Hello! I just started the game and I noticed that there seems to be a game-wide shortage of Tie Interceptors in the market. If I could get my hands on either of these, what would be the best purchase for a starting player? Thanks!

Also, as a new player, why are these so sought after?

1x Imperial Aces (for pushes, hulls and computers, ships and other)

1x TIE interceptor (for Soontir and Turr - amazing pilots)

1x firespray (for veteran instincts, stealth device)

but if just want to start with interceptors - Aces should be your first choice

try to master two royal guards with push the limit, hull and shield mods (2x 32p)

than try other pilots and buy TIE interceptor for Soontir and Turr... and have fun!

Get both.. they each have unique pilots you will want. Also there are some great upgrades.

Why people like them... squints are awesome..

You're gonna want both the Aces set and the Interceptor kit. But I'd start with Aces, as it has a bit more oomph to it.

Squints are, as noted above, super fun to fly. They suffer against turrets, and can't take a punch, but my gods! They deliver the damage like nothing else. And they're slippery devils- they don't have much hull because they are never supposed to get shot at. Learning how to arc dodge is key. Pulling it off makes you feel like a minor deity.

i bought one regular int for the pilot cards but bulked out forces with Imperial Aces as you get shield and hull upgrades and PTL

get the aces for now. get the interceptor for soontir later. or just ask your friends or someone on the forums to trade them to you.

Both. Buy both. At the same time. The Interceptor is a really fun ship to fly.

Interceptor for soontir fel whose just awesome, aces for the imperial guard ties all the great cards and because you want multiple cepters.

I only own Aces and constantly wish I had Fel. Carnor is a real killer though

There is no love like Soontir love. As much as I like Whisper, the phantoms in general feel a little gimicky. You can win, but you are relying on (card based) technology. With Soontir (who to me is the most comparible pilot to whisper) you will feel like a WW1 dog fighting ace. A least when you don't bump and then be instagibbed by a passing z 95.

But to make him shine you need PTL. The royal guard title provides useful training wheels in sheild/hull upgrades. But really soontir just wants his Ptl and maybe a targeting computer. Beyond that he will triumph by how you fly him.

As it has been said before you really want both for interceptor lists. PTL was made for ships with boost and a lot of green maneuvers. If you get 1 interceptor and 2 Aces you have enough for an entire Interceptor Squadron.

Aces is the better pack but you need Interceptor for Soontir Fel (the best pilot) and Turr Phennir (one of the best pilots).

You're going to need two Interceptor expansions and two Imperial Aces minimum. The TIE Interceptor is my favorite ship in the game and in the Star Wars Universe. They are just so fun to play. Push the Limit EPT feels like the Jelly to your Interceptor Peanut Butter (barring a peanut allergy).

The Interceptors are agile, fast, and manueverable. If that's your bag, you'll love Soontir Fel and Turr Phennir.

Seriously though, pick up both the Interceptor expansion and Imperial Aces. I'm not one to tell people they need to buy something; but, it you even have the slightest interest in the Galactic Empire, you need to buy these. You won't regret it.

If they're sold out around you, try Barnes and Nobles, eBay, and/or Bartertown. Don't pay the inflated prices people are selling them for. Be patient, you'll find some.
