Lords of Nal Hutta: Hutt Space Sourcebook!

By progressions, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Equator alone is shellback unless it's in the Panama Canal then it is MossBack. Equator and date time line for golden shellback. North, Arctic Circle is blue nose. (I have the last two). There are a ton more but those are the big ones.

isn't the panama canal way north of the equator? Last i checked the equator went through Ecuador....:Farther south :P

Climbing? I have seen gravbelts and the like mentioned a few times but if there is a good GM at the table then who knows, the slope might be just right for a hutt and that corridor you need to squeeze to might be just wide enough. Heck, isn’t that what destiny points are for?

I see a lot of „ No” here instead of „Yes, and…”

"Oh look, it just so happens that the entire world is nice and Hutt-sized!"

I try to say yes to my players as much as is reasonably possible, but Hutt PCs (at my table, at least) push the boundaries of what is reasonably possible more than I'd like.

Sorry, I actually edited that post and deleted the "order of the ditch" (panama), but gave it Mossback (cape horn).

Also I forget where, but I read that young hungry Hutts were capable of astonishing movement speeds.

Keep in mind, though, that astonishment is relative. A Hutt moving at a typical walking speed for a biped could be considered astonishing.

I agree with the sentiment, though. A snail-speed Hutt would be ridiculous. I'd be happier with slowish; walking with a Hutt would be like walking with a less easily-distracted toddler.

Yeah, that’s what I said… Never mind, this discussion I’d rather invest my energy in honest discussions.

I always found this picture from the Essential Guide very inspiring. Looks like a capable adventurer to me. :)

Well, everybody's got their own version of Star Wars. Perhaps that's yours :P

Well, we do have an on-screen instance of a Human walking alongsid a Hutt, that being the ANH Special Edition with the re-introduced scene of Han and Jabba talking in front of the Falcon.

Jabba was moving pretty slow compared to Han's normal stride, so we see Han deliberately slowing his pace down for much of the conversation.

We also see Jabba slithering along in TPM just prior to the start of the Boonta Eve podrace, and again he's not moving very quickly compared to the normal stride of an adult human.

So odds are Hutt's aren't going to be super-quick on their feet, with the question being "how's that going to be mechanically implemented?" Could be that if a Hutt wants to move more than one range band during their turn, they need to suffer 2 strain for the exertion (making it 4 strain if they wanted to take two maneuvers to change range bands, such as going from Medium to Engaged). Or could be (and likely will be) something entirely different. Or it may not even be directly reflected in their special abilities at all, much like how Toydarians' alleged immunity to mind tricks is addressed by simply giving them a higher base Willpower than average, so we could just see Hutts having Agility 1 as their base to account for their general lack of speed.

Mandalorian mothers are as tough as they come. Giving birth to a helmeted baby is no joke.

Spartan mother to her son: Come back with this shield, or on it.

Mandalorian mother to her son: Come back with this helmet, or in it.

Because only Mandalorian women give birth to real men.

I bet it'll be just like the reverse of the Swift talent. Which is to say that if they do anything it'll be for overland movement and that in combat movement distances are small enough where it doesn't make a difference.

It is burned in there now... kill it with fire... make it stop!

I never want to see the word "penetrate" while having a conversation about a hutt, again!

Prepare the brain bleach. . . .

Ah Queen Jool, one of the only Hutt characters that was actually interesting to me.

Think half the size of the Rancor in RotJ.

I have no idea what you're talking about, those scenes aren't in my copy of ANH and they never existed ever, and lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala...

Yeah, you remember. Just after the bit where Greedo pulls a gun on Han Solo and he shoots him in self-defence. :)

I said "la la la" sir.

Good day!

:P

I gotta admit, 5 nikto sub-species... I'm pretty excited. Between that and the beast-riders from the AoR "Aces" book, I'm like a kid in the candy store.

I was really hoping for Gamorreans to be in here, as I can't personally figure out where else they are going to be placed... unless there is going to be an "odds and ends" species of the galaxy book coming out.

Hutts are cool, but they will most likely end up in the "Chevon pile" where I don't have any players that are going to touch them as characters... that does open a huge range of possibilities though for NPCs and planned baddies.

I could see gamorreans in the smuggler book if they delve into piracy in it.

That is true!!! I am hoping you are right...

If so, I want a picture of a Gamorrean in a vest and cowboy hat. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Fingers crossed they come up eventually. In my first time playing a Star Wars RPG (early in the WEG days), I was playing a Gam. melee type, we also had another player doing the wookie deal. For some reason we went at it and the dice were on my side that day. From that point on, the party respected The Pig, and he was considered the go to guy for melee combat, while the wookie concentrated on bow caster and more of a ranged base. We made a pretty good micro-team, he and I. I've loved the species ever since.

I actually have this on my desk...
