Killing Fat Han

By Bohrdumb, in X-Wing

Whad. No offense to the OP, who had noble intentions (but really, the true question is how to be able to defeat a Falcon and not be gimped versus everything else), but this thread is becoming actual crud.

Really, the How to kill Phantom with small rebels is a pretty silly question. There's tons of ways. Overmaxing on PS, having good maneuver options and you'll heave a SUPER easy time.

Corran Horn (35)

R7-T1 (3)
Airen Cracken (19)

Airen can pass a Focus to Corran, but really, they don't need to ecessarily fly together. Corran is the true Phantom hunter here: He has PS 10 and can BR and Boost with limitations.
Airen is also PS10, but no movement mods, just fly well. The Phantom won't know where you are going.
Total of 5 ships gives you a lot of arcs and plenty of swarming to deal with Fat Han and swarms.
Corran is also naturally good against Fat Han, and having a hgh PS ship with 4 extras will help very well against the Swarm.
I might swap the Ion Pulse Missiles for a Hull Upgrade on Corran though. Just to be safe. I think you'll win more games when Corran lives rather than when Airen gets to be offesnively useful for one turn.

Z 95 is 12 points, Chardin refit is -2. Making each Z 95 10 points. 10x10=100 MATH

I seriously hope you're joking.

Nope. You can field 10 Z-95's. Only have 6 now, when the story gets more I will have 10.

If you're talking Epic, then yeah, you could, but otherwise, no.

Here's another one. Against using Es and Zs.

Etahn A'baht (32)
Predator (3)
R2-D2 (4)

Bulky defensive ships stand a much better chance against Han. Their damage output is also incredible. This is 11 dice with modifications.
Corran is the "goat" here. The threat your opponent thinks is his worst nightmare. Really, Etahn with R2D2 and Predator in the endgame is gonna eat anything else alive.
Here against, you ahve two PS 10 ships, and plenty of movement options on Corran. You'll have to do some fancy flying though to avoid the rest of the mini swarm while you concentrate the Phantom. Etahn can hold them off a little bit if he's scared. 3 defense dice and auto crits vs Ties hurts a lot.

Two lists that I have been having success with, and fall into the categories of, an imperial list, and the other is an all small based rebel list. I have been able to take on and defeat fat Han, phantoms, and tie swarms.

First the imps

Boba Fett w/ VI, rebel captive

Howl Runner w/ stealth devise

3x Academy pilots

This Boba build ruins phantom's day, and has the firepower to take down fat Han. Tie swarms are more of an even fight, but still doable.

For the rebs (and note this is all from wave one)

Wedge w/ swarm tactics

Biggs

Rookie Pilot

Gold Squadron Pilot w/ ion turret

The ion turret can drastically reduce the slipperiness of a phantom. And unless it is Whisper with VI Wedge give the y-wing PS 9 to shoot first (and can still shoot first if initiative goes your way). This list has also been holding its own against swarms since wave one. It does not always win, but again it is competitive. Against fat Han it brings enough firepower to win if flown well.

I don't feel that either of these lists are guaranteed wins against any of the "problem" lists out there, but I feel both of these list give you a fighting chance against them. Or at least they are from my experience.
