Colonel vessery's SA

By TieDefender, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Say I have a OGP shuttle in my build which TL's something, vessery attacks that target and then uses his SA to get the target lock.

Is my shuttle still able to use its TL or is it gone because Vessery used his SA?

The Shuttle's TL is unaffected by Vessery. He just picks up his special ability TL from the pre-existing lock.

You just need to have another friendly ship's target lock on the defender for Vessery to be able to do his thing. The Shuttle is not spending it's target lock, so it remains in play until the Shuttle needs it.

Vessery gets to roll his attack dice, pick up a target lock for himself (because there's a friendly TL on it) and then use the newly acquired target lock to modify his roll.

Note that if Vessery already has his own TL on the defender, he doesn't get another one, as he can't have two at the same time.

alright thanks, i was playing against a more experienced player today who was convinced that the shuttles TL would go away after vessery uses it which I was pretty sure wasn't the case. Didn't make much of a difference the Vessery & VI + Rex & Predator + OGP & Darth vader that I was running still won.

Maybe he was confused by the rule that each ship can only maintain 1 TL? (Maybe he thought each ship could only be TLed by 1 ship instead of can only have 1 TL on an enemy ship?)

Maybe he was thinking of Colonel Jendon's ability to hand the TL to another ship.

Vessery does not take the original TL he just gains one which makes him very strong on offence when he also focuses.
