Seek Magnitude

By Scalding, in General Discussion

I'm not really happy with Seek Magnitude. I feel that:

1. 1 detail per magnitude upgrade per force point? That can get to be onerous on the GM. In general this game is very demanding of a GM to be quick and creative at a moments notice, but I feel this is a bit too much to ask. Often the GM won't have all those details because you're not there yet, so he hasn't prepared them. He's got enough to do already. Tone it down a bit.

2. There are 4 of them, out of 11 upgrades on the tree. I think Strength upgrades could be more populous, at least trade one or two of the Magnitude upgrades.

I'm really feeling this tree needs a lot of work to bring it up to the standards of the rest of the game.

Well, also consider that Seek has a Control Upgrade that lets you add Pierce to any attack, and a Mastery Upgrade that allows you to apply an automatic Triumph to all combat checks against a particular adversary for the rest of the encounter.

Regarding the Magnitude Upgrades, probably better to remove the 'can activate multple times' portion, thus cutting down on the potential information overload should a PC have purchased them all and generated plenty of Force points.

That or have the amount of times it can be activated, stated clearly, becasuse stating it can be activated numerous times is somewhat ambiguous, and most people do have differing opinions on what the certain numeral value of numerous is.

Bein that open ended is an invitation for rules abuse.
