Seek Mastery

p. 214: The Force user makes a Force check as an action and chooses an enemy he can perceive. If he generates at least 3 Force Points, the user adds one automatic Triumph to each combat check he makes against the target until the end of the encounter.

Does this seem a bit overpowered to anyone else? A free triumph against a target on every combat check for the encounter? Wow!

It really puts other Mastery powers to shame, even those on trees that require 2 or 3 Force Rating to even begin!

I just... for a primarily non-combat tree, it's really... wow.

Its last Control power (all attacks gain Pierce [Cunning + Perception]) is also really powerful, but it at least requires the user to Commit 3 Force Dice.

I recommend that the Mastery power also require the commitment of at least two Force Dice. Frankly, I feel it is at least on par with the Control power, so I could see it requiring the commitment of 3 as well.

It's meant to replicate the "Shatterpoint" ability that showed up in the EU, particularly where Mace Windu was concerned.

It is powerful, that's true, but also consider that it's not easy to get to, and that you pretty much need to have a high Force Rating if you want to be able to use it with any reliability, especially if you also want to be able to use that Control Upgrade for ranks of Pierce. It's also a single target that you get the Triumph against, which isn't always going to mean "trigger a critical injury," but could also be used to upgrade your next attack or upgrade the difficulty of the target's next attack against you.
