Can we please get a F&D Beginner Set box that doesnt suck?

By Desslok, in General Discussion

Okay, nothing official has been announced, but with a EotE and AoR beginner set on the shelf, there's no reason not to think that the F&D beginner box is in the works.

So - I think the beginner sets are really good jumping on points for noobs. Strong stories, great tutorials for the game engine and hey, who doesn't need more dice! The only one problem? The flimsy ass cardboard they use for the box. Hell, my Froot Loops come in a better designed, more durable container than my two Beginner Sets do. Since I'm considerably more likely to keep my Beginner Sets longer than I am my Froot Loops, this is a major pain in the ass.

In raising this concern now, hopefully my suggestion can be taken to heart. . . .

Heh, once I have the box I take the stuff out of it and don't tend to need the box anymore. :)

I've got to agree. I would be much more likely to buy a Force and Destiny beginner box if it has a good box. If they stay consistent with the previous editions I probably won't get it, I don't really need another tutorial or the dice at this point.

I'll even pay a couple bucks more if they can get some decent packaging.

Yeah, that's been my one complaint with the Beginner Box games was how flimsy the actual box was. I've got the materials from both the EotE and AoR BB's packed into a Revenge of the Sith Starter Set box from WotC's SW minis line, as that's a heck of a lot strudier than the flimsiboard that FFG used.

The adventure, content, and player aids are all top of the line with the previous 2 beginner sets, if we can get a stiff cardboard box for the third and final beginner box to compliment the effort and love that we know will be going into the Force and Destiny beginner's box... It would be a phenomenal product,

Yeah, my boxes are long gone, their contents moved into durable, space-saving folders.

I just want a way to get more Challenge dice and Force dice without having to buy a billion dice sets. :(

I even keep both the AOR and EOTE Beginner Adventure Books and pregen characters in my Bag of Holding in case I randomly come upon a chance to introduce somebody to the system.

All 3 beginner boxes + 1 extra set = 4 of each.

Yes, but I don't want the beginner boxes. I just want the books and a good number of dice. I'd have to buy 4 sets to get 4 Challenge and Force dice. That's ~$60 worth of dice and I'd end up with too many of a lot of the other dice types, so they'd essentially go to waste.

You could go the cheaper route of hunting down the EotE beta dice stickers, or use the chart in the books for regular dice (yeah, I know...).

I also haven't kept the original boxes. One of these days I'll get more organized, but they're sitting in a drawer in my desk with all my other FFG stuff. (I'm finally getting to enough books to start needing to expand space!) They have the production quality/value high on the contents that are designed to stick around; I'm okay with them just using cardstock for the container box that serves to get it to me.

Given how much of the interior of the boxes is empty space, I just trashed them right after extracting the goods. The total contents of both boxes add up to less space than a single box would consume.

Wait, we're not supposed to hang onto those old Froot Loops boxes?

Aw, f---......

Yes please make a nice strong box for Force and Destiny

A beginners box where the box doesn't suck would be nice indeed. The best thing about WFRPG 3 was how sturdy the core box was, ok maybe not the best thing, but still.

Also if you could just skip the first scenario book and jump straight to a splat that would be nice.

That's a good idea. I still have that box.

Hmm, maybe I should replace my eote and aor boxes with my fruitloops box....

I think I have a Pathfinder beginner box around I'm not really using. Maybe I can just paste Star Wars pictures all over it and call it good.

You laugh, but I have one of these boxes from 1996 still hanging around somewhere

Mind you, this is mostly because I've never gotten around to throwing it away - but still. . . .

I have them standing upright in my cupboard with the rest of my books. It keeps the beginner stuff together at least and the boxes aren't too flimsy as to be destroyed by the books.

As for if I will get it, of course! If I get an adventure, I will be buying it. You can never have too many adventures to select from.

I would think that sturdier box = more expensive product. I like the $30 price for the beginner game...I dislike anything that would raise they price point. I'm already on a strict budget! Plus the big box is a waste of space.

So...thanks, FFG, for making an affordable but very enjoyable product.

I am another one who doesn't need a big box taking up space on my shelf. I take the items out of the box and store them in a way that takes far less space. I also don't want to pay more for a more expensive box. IMHO, the box needs to be sturdy enough to get the product from the printer into my hands, which the FFG boxes are. No need to waste $$ on a stronger box.

I'm hoping they keep to beginner characters rather than a repeat of the ones released with the Force & Destiny Beta, just saying that in case some bright spark thinks knight level beginner characters is a good idea!

Any chance of a G-Rigger floor plan?

Do you think they'll try to map out a Temple or Shrine as a releases with the Force & Destiny Beginner box set?

What would you like to see in there?
