One Deck to Rule Them All (almost)

By jjeagle, in Strategy and deck-building

I've beaten every quest thus far printed with this deck (nightmare and normal), except:

- the Saga quests (haven't played the deck against them)

- Escape from Dol Guldur

The deck was unchanged throughout except against Rhosgobel where I added the obvious healing cards.

I really want to play this deck, but i don´t have all those cards unfotunately.

This looks nice. How's fighting power in this deck, without tactics? I'm trying to put together a good dwarf deck.

Plenty of fighting power - swarm out allies, with Dain's bonus that proves more than sufficient.

Why not Lure of Moria for readying all dwarves?

3 Dwarven Tomb? What's the main target?

Lure of Moria - I hadn't fully appreciated the combo with We Are Not Idle when I built the deck, and have never found I needed it (as I say, this deck has beaten all quests to date).

Dwarven Tomb - you desperately need Will of the West, often multiple times, and it can get discarded to e.g. Ered Nimrais Prospector.

Great deck! I'm taking it against Khazad-Dum to get me started with Dwarf decks.

This turns out to be a very strong and entertaining deck. It handily beat Into the Pit and a custom scenario I made (Assault on Dol Guldur).

Glad you are enjoying it. You should find that it smashes pretty much any and all quests printed to date. The Will of the West errata does affect it somewhat, but I would just substitute an extra copy for one of the Dwarven Tombs.

I have played a similar deck but with Grima instead of Ori, stewart of Gondor instead of Hidden cache and some Lure of Moria.

Grima stabilizes the trisphere and allows to play stewart of Gondor turn one.

Nori capacity works fine with Grima.

These decks are very powerfull.

This deck pumps out allies like no tomorrow, but the 7th Level still wiped me out with swarms of enemies. Any tips on how to beat this quest with this deck?

Disregard, post deleted.

I certainly had no problems beating 7th Level but off the top of my head I'm not sure of any specific guidance on how to do so.

Okay, I think I just had a massive stroke of bad luck the first go around. Tonight, I beat The Seventh Level with this deck twice.

Flight From Moria defeated! 5-1 against KD including repeat plays.

Does the recent errata to Will of the West damage this deck much? Will of the West is now removed from the game after you play it, so it can't come back via Dwarven Tomb or other copies of Will of the West.

See my comment on this question above. I haven't actually played the deck since the errata but I think subbing in one WOTW for one Dwarven Tomb would solve the problem.

The errata doesn't slow this deck down at all. You do run out of cards sometimes, but not before you have a huge army of dwarves. The main shortcoming is leadership resources pile up with nothing to spend them on, as leadership allies come in through other means like A Very Good Tale. I'm considering adding Parting Gifts or maybe another leadership card. Even so, this deck rocks.

ah, missed that comment, sorry about that

Lure of Moria would probably be a good addition then, maybe in place of Cram.

This deck is great fun to play and works well against quests. It is clearly a Dwarf-ally-swarm type of deck. To address the issue of unused Leadership resources, I think I'm going to remove three copies each of the Legacy of Durin and We Are Not Idle and will add three copies each of Durin's Song and Lure of Moria. This will give the deck more readying power and more questing/defending/attacking power. I found I used my Lore resources on allies and didn't play Legacy of Durin very often. Likewise, I didn't often play We Are Not Idle because I was exhausting allies instead to quest, defend or attack and rarely for this card. We’ll try this and see how it goes. I might go back after trying it. I am still tempted to add Parting Gifts. Imladris Stargazer would complement this deck nicely, too, but isn't very thematic.

I continue to be dazzled by this deck. I took it against The Long Dark and Foundations of Stone this week and it obliterated both. The deck simultaneously offers massive card draw, threat reduction, and ally production.

I love this deck! I was struggling with The Steward's Fear, so I pulled out this deck. It won easily with threat 19, 3 VP, & 6 wounds. The overall score was uncertain, because I lost track of counting turns. I'm estimating about ten. Great job, jjeagle!
