Peace, and Bows - A Mono, Lore, Solo Tharbad Deck

By Denison, in Strategy and deck-building

Here is a deck built to beat Trouble in Tharbad. Not sure how it would fare against any other scenarios, but fun to use some of these newer secrecy cards against the decidedly pro-secrecy Tharbad.

Deck Created with CardGameDB.com The Lord of the Rings Deckbuilder

Total Cards: (50)

Hero: (3)

1x Pippin (The Black Riders)

1x Bifur (Khazad-dum)

1x Mirlonde (The Drúadan Forest)

Ally: (12)

3x Ithilien Archer (Encounter at Amon Dîn)

3x Ithilien Lookout (The Dunland Trap)

3x Ithilien Tracker (Heirs of Numenor)

1x Haldir of Lorien (A Journey to Rhosgobel)

1x Anborn (The Blood of Gondor)

1x Gildor Inglorion (The Hills of Emyn Muil)

Attachment: (13)

3x Protector of Lorien (Core Set)

3x Ranger Bow (Assault on Osgiliath)

1x Leaf Brooch (The Three Trials)

3x Poisoned Stakes (The Blood of Gondor)

3x Resourceful (The Watcher in the Water)

Event: (25)

3x Expecting Mischief (Over Hill and Under Hill)

3x Strider's Path (The Hunt for Gollum)

3x Radagast's Cunning (Core Set)

3x Peace, and Thought (Shadow and Flame)

3x Risk Some Light (Shadow and Flame)

3x Mithrandir's Advice (The Steward's Fear)

3x Daeron's Runes (Foundations of Stone)

3x Secret Paths (Core Set)

1x Noiseless Movement (The Three Trials)

Card draw needed in the starting hand to get the deck moving. Hopefully draw into Resourceful. Use some events to hold enemies in the staging area while you set up some cheap rangers and bows. Hang in there until the Haldir, Gildor and Anborn cavalry arrives!

You did not ask for any advice, but you've got expensive alles and no elf-stone?

And that's a sh*tload of events, and no scroll of Isildur?

Just thinking out loud here ;)

I like the idea, but I fear it wouldn't work very well unless you have a companion spirit deck to keep the treat low. Without threat reduction you only have 3 turns of secrecy max. Leaf Brooch probably won't pay for itself and Resourceful and Risk Some Light become too expensive.

I posted a similar deck a few months ago that doesn't have as much card draw, but it can stay in secrecy for a while because I replaced Bifur with Glorfindel (of course, the required hero in almost every secrecy deck). He specified that this deck was for Trouble in Tharbad, which lowers your threat. Therefore, staying in secrecy isn't an issue because you'll be getting down to 0 in no time.

Ah, I see. I haven't actually picked up Trouble in Tharbad yet and I've avoided any quest spoilers, so I didn't know about that aspect of the quest. Carry on then.
