As much as I love Lorrir and flying him, he's lacking an option that only PtL Interceptor can do and pretty much the reason why a lot of people prefer PtL over any other EPT: Turtle Up.
This is it right here. But I do think there is still design space (for House Rules) for PS5 Interceptors that don't have an EPT. Their cost needs to be right, and the pilot ability needs to be good enough to justify it. It would be really cool to see mid range squints that don't have PtL!
I think we are slowly getting there since wave 4.
Stress is becoming more and more a threat so using PtL can be risky. Starting a turn with 2 stress token can mean the end of your Interceptor or forcing him to get out for a while. I believe that the flechette cannon will be yet another way to deal stress.
Field Officer will help your action economy by potentially giving a focus to 2 of your Interceptors. The need for PtL to allow you to turtle up will be less present. I'm thinking predator or outmaneuver on a Interceptor that can do a barrel roll or boost and still have a focus token can be very threatening.
Unless you plan on using him close to his mates, lonewolf on Turr or Tetran can be very good. I don't know if you ran the math yet, but surely a defensive reroll on a 3 agility ship is nice. Either way, I'm already used to using predator or VI on those two instead of PtL, so it should not be that bad.
There is also the Autothruster modification that the developper said Interceptors pilot will love, maybe it's good enough so you don't feel as compelled to run your squint with PtL, and since Interceptors can equip 2 mod but rarely do so because of the lack of variety and cheap ones, it could not be at a better place to help, just need to know if it's a cheap mod or not.
