Summer Classes
--------------------
Type: Event (3 copies)
Cost: 2
Action: Choose a character that is currently committed to a story. That character remains committed when that story resolves this phase unless the story is won. That character cannot un-commit until that story resolves again.

--------------

Rules question: Say on my turn I play 'Summer Classes' on one of my own characters at a story. My opponent, on his next turn, does NOT commit any characters to that story.

1) Does that story resolve on his turn? .

2) Would I, as defender, be allowed to commit additional characters to that story?

Chick

1 ) Yes the story resolve on his turn. P.9 from rules "...each story card (that contains commited characters) MUST be resolved."

2) No, you can commit defender only in the stories where the active player has commited a character.

I agree, thanks, Dadajeff.

Chick

But the rules say

The active player may choose to not commit to any or all of the stories during this step. If the active player decides to not commit at least one character to a story, the phase ends and the player’s turn is over.

So it sounds like even is a character has to attend summer school the story won't resolve unless the active player commits at least one character?

You' re right professor. If active player commit no characters at all, the phase end. Stories don't resolve this turn, but The "summer class" character is always commit in its story because " That character cannot un-commit until that story resolves again ".

So, if there is a character stuck in Summer Classes (I'm imagining the Elder Thing / Scientist forced to teach a summer session for delinquent Young Deep Ones) as the defending player, then the Active player commits NO characters anywhere then there is no story resolution, but if they commit somewhere, even if not to the story with the stuck character, there is story resolution. Is that correct?

I guess this also applies to the Obsessive Inmate that must remain committed to a story until won.

you're right
