How to organise my cards?

By jimjim19681968, in Strategy and deck-building

Hi,

I have been playing with the core set for a few weeks and slowly getting the hang of playing and simple deck building.

I have now bought two saga expansions and some adventure packs.

I am now wondering how best to organise my growing card pool.

Should I just keep them all in their separate boxes?

Or, in terms of deck building, should I stack all the sphere cards together from all the different sets? i.e. Keep all the Spirit cards as one set, all the Lore cards as one set etc.?

How do I do it?

Many thanks in advance.

I used to keep all the cards in two core boxes, each sphere grouped together then the adventures by story timeline.I discovered that putting the sphere playing cards in a three ring binder made it easier for building multiple decks.

First off: wrong forum, but I'll forgive you for that. :)

Second: there have been many discussions on the main LotR LCG forum regarding storage and it's quite subjective.

Personally, I have the player cards sorted by sphere, then hero, ally, attachment, and events in each sphere, then alphabetically within each of those categories.

The encounter cards are sorted by encounter set and put in order of release. For boxes that come with multiple encounter sets, I don't really care what order they are in, and I don't care what order the encounter cards are in within their sets, except that the quest cards need to be in front and in number order.

I have five binders.

Not a simple game to organize.

I recently got one of the organizers from go7gaming.com and placed it in my core box set. I've got a section for each sphere of player cards (split into hero, ally, attachment and event, then alphabetical) and have each of the deluxe or saga expansions encounter/quest cards in their own section (for these I do all quest cards together and then each encounter set) and each cycle in its own section with quest cards in front of the encounter set. I've also got a dragon shield deck box (http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/190597) that I keep the scenarios and decks I'm currently using in. It is also much easier to travel with.

Seems to work pretty well so far though I think that eventualy a single core box will not be enough to house everything (this will happen even sooner if you sleeve all your cards). I thnk my plan for once I reach that point is to bet a few more of the dragon shield boxes, so I have an appropriate colored one for each sphere and use those for player cards and the core box with divider for just encounter/quest cards.

Though the binder idea seems like it would really speed up/simplify deck building for player cards. Might have to give that some thought....

Bullroarer Took, will the card inserts for your binders fit 3 copies of a card in each pocket?

I keep all my encounter cards in a core set box, though I'm running out of room and the box is starting to show some wear so I'm going to have to figure something out soon.

For player cards I use this: http://www.staples.com/Caseit-Z-176-1-1-2-inch-2-in-1-Zipper-Binder/product_SS2163901

with these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007XXFGG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I sort my cards by sphere, then heroes->allies->attachements->events, and then by card number.

Epi, I like your system. Do you find that the sleeves will accommodate 3 cards per pocket without any problem?

Thanks

I have two core boxes, so some cards I have six of others four or less. If I have six of a card I use two slots, three cards per slot; anything else I use one slot as it can handle four cards.

Cool. Thanks for the info Tanarion.

I have had no issues slipping 3 cards into each pocket.
