FaD Species Discussion

By Thebearisdriving, in General Discussion

I find it odd that species is something that really merits a special focus of examination (beta update 1). Species diversity is not something that weighs heavily on this system (I was only ever WOW'd by the choices in suns of fortune splat).

I suppose i find cerans to be a little more powerful than the normal curve, since theire species bonus meshes well with their 3 stat, and they gain 12 base will. The 90 xp to start is a hurdle, but not a major one.

Nautolan also strike me as being a little more powerful, as their species bonus is very good in it's niche, and their brawn and bonus athletics also also synergize well. However, their lower strain and will 1 is a good trade off, so I'm not much bothered.

Nothing else even really merits My mention. Only human was picked by more than one of my players, mostly because my group just likes being human.

Anyone else have thoughts or play experiences?

The human 2 skill points in 2 non career skills is VERY powerful, especially if you use it to get the Lightsaber skill in a career that doesn't normally have that ability, the warrior aggressor comes to mind. Mechanics is a good skill as well for fiddling with aforementioned rapier of unfairness as well, so are lore and education or cool... If you don't have cool spend it on cool...

They did call out that these species should also ge looked at compared to AoR and EotE careers and specs. Anyone see any really good (or too good) combos?

UncleArkie: Those ar egood points, but there's not much point (I don't think) in discussing human stat blocks, since they are 99.9% unlikely to change, having been really well established in the prior two cores. Hence why I didn't discuss them.
