Expansions and 1st v 2nd ed?

By pirateclem2, in BattleLore

So I see comment that there may be a couple expansions coming out for 2nd Ed. I just purchased the game and this is great news. In the mean time, being unfamiliar with the differences between 1st and 2nd ed., I am wondering if the large amount of supplements for the first version of the game are compatible with the 2nd?

TIA!

I haven't played 1e, but it seems like they are incompatable for a variety or reasons. On BGG someone worked out a conversion system for using them, but I think you have to be pretty into hacking your games.

Sounds painful, I'll wait for 2nd Ed expansions. Bloody great game, hope they start rolling out that extra content/army's/figures/etc.

I think the plan is to have them out by the end of the year - at least, I assume they'll roughly coincide with the iOS game that's due out later in 2014. Considering there hadn't even been an official news item on this site announcing it, I'm guessing it's going to be later rather than sooner, unfortunately. I love the game, but the variety of game that even one more unit per side - much less 4! - would add is huge.

Agree. The only let down I have have with the game is that the unit selection is so limited in the base set. Expansions will not only be a nicety but the game feels like it requires it.
