Ok, Stupid question - clarify Navigator for me...

By Papamambo, in X-Wing Rules Questions

"When you reveal a maneuver, you may rotate your dial to another maneuver with the same bearing. You cannot rotate to a red maneuver if you have any stress tokens."

Sounds simple.. BUT, I've seen different interpretations.

'"same bearing".. Does that mean if you took a hard 1 right, you could choose a hard 2 right, or hard 3 right only? Or does it mean you could use ANY of the right turns/banks? Or does it mean any forward movement at all?

An opponent seemed to think he could change his dial to pretty much ANY other movement on his dial.

Nope, he was wrong. As it states, same bearing.. a bank or turn or straight is your bearing. So when you use the Navigatoe, you are only changing the number on your move. Also as stated, not to a red maneuver.

The only thing you get to change is the number.

The direction and type remain the same. If your dial does not have another number (you're doing the hard 2 turn with the shuttle) then you Navigator really can't help you. Red maneuvers ARE legal provided you are not stressed at the time.

So, A turn for a turn, and a bank for a bank. No swapping Banks for turns and vice versa correct?

Correct. Also no swapping right and left with Navigator.

All six bearings are listed on page 6, so a left bank is not the same as a right bank and a left turn is not the same as a right turn.

This.

Worth adding that we've gained a new bearing (Stationary) which is distinct from an Ahead, and it's likely that the upcoming Segnor's Loop will be a distinct bearing as well.

Good point, B. That will indeed add two more bearings, but we have yet to see if any of the ships that can do it have more than one speed available on their dial.

Mentioned it mainly for Stationary, since "Can I change from a 1 ahead to stationary?" almost always comes up in these discussions.

Will indeed be interesting to see how many options a ship has for Segnor's.

Is a K-turn considered a "bearing?"

Yes.
