I know that the white color is cannon, but I loath it. I want to paint my Lambda a more imperial grey. I was wondering what would be the best or easiest way to do this. The three ideas I currently have and wonder which is best or if I am on the wrong track.

1) Just use a combination of layering, wash and dry brush to get it darker. I fear this may just make it look old and muddy, but would probably be the easiest.

2) Mask off all the details and airbrush the shuttle a proper grey, then add the weathering and details.

3) Strip the paint and then do a full base coat, build up and proper layering.

Also I've not spend much time painting vehicles models mostly just paint one off fantasy stuff. What is a good grey to match the Imperial blue grey of most of their ships?

I'd use an airbrush (without bothering to strip the paint) if you have one available - I think the large flat areas on the shuttle are too broad to paint easily with a brush, as you'd end up with brush marks all over the place.

I sprayed greys over the top of the white to shade it a bit, then added streaks and stuff and re outlined the panels with a softer black wash instead of straight black. I too hated the stark black and white, it really should be pale grey.

Hi, looks great so far. What about more shading? I always use masking tapes to secure the light parts and have sharp edges when airbrushing.

I want to paint one brown just so i can call it the brown cow. and anther like Holstein... nah not really...lol some kind of camo maybe.... OD green/black...

I use several different techniques when I paint one. First I base coat my color. Then I wash it and dry brush it. Last I add small details and engine glow.

Well you could try nuln oil wash to darken down the white then some light dry brushing with white.

Failing that administratum grey as a base nuln oil wash to pitch out details, then ulthwan grey fairly heavy dry brush followed by a lighter white drybrush.

These are great repaints and WOW what a subtle but important difference between the original and what is here.
