Over on BGG someone has posted a link to a set of minis for a peasant army , running with the figures there in and a dash of my own ideas, heres a set of rules to go with them:
The peasant army
My inspiration for this army are the pitchfork and burning torch men of horror movies of old and a line in the rule book on page 47 "lore - to some its nothing more than myth or legend". what happens when a giant rolls over the horizon or word of a man who can kill a whole unit is just over that hill, well you rally round a charasmatic leader, grab your pitch fork and go deal with them of course...
Deployment:
All units have three figures (unless exception is stated)
Peasants can not make use of mercenaries so if using CtA swap out goblins for same colour peasants, dwarves a four figure unit
Green archer units are replaced with slingers (use goblin rules)
As peasants wouldn't be able to field cavalry swap out cavalry as follows
Green cavalry become green archers
Blue cavalry become blue infantry with a green infantry unit in a supporting position (ie touching but not in front)
Red cavalry become red infantry unit with four figures
Designate two units as 'leaders' using the small lore master tokens
the first leader grants an additional figure (upto a max of 4) to the unit and allows it to fight as a normal unit
the second allows it to fight as a normal unit (no bonus figure)
All units are treated as green infantry (distance moved battlebacks) except
they receive orders as per their colour
when battling at which point they roll a number of dice fitting their colour
They are all frightened and have to be in triangle formation to receive bold bonus (i.e. three in a line without support to the rear doesn't make the middle unit bold)
Other changes:
Lore council, the peasants do not have a lore council
They can hold 3 command cards plus one for each leader unit still in play
make a medieval Lore deck and then make a lore deck as per normal rules out of the remaining cards for the non peasant army
either player may draw from the medieval lore deck only the non peasant army may draw from the Lore deck
The peasants can have a maximum to 2 lore cards (instead of 1 from normal medieval lore rules) and start with none
In addition to generating lore when rolled the peasant army will get an additional lore every time a creature is moved ora card from the Lore deck is played
Once the medieval lore deck have been reduced to zero shuffle all used medival lore cards and make a new stack.
