Rebel shuttle possibly now?

By Filter, in X-Wing

With Scum & Villainy essentially giving us cross faction ships, could the Rebels finally get a stolen Lambda Shuttle in the form of the Tyderium? Not sure how to do this besides new inserts into new shuttle boxes or something like a separate booster pack type of thing just selling the cards & ship tokens.

I hope not, the last thing I want to see is a falcon + shuttles list.

Meh, I'm fine with having the Shuttle Imperial only- with the ST-321 title you get to fly Vader's personal transport, which is much cooler than the Tyderium.

Well xwing seems to be totally embedded with EU stuff and in the EU the rebels have entire flights of shuttles for their use.

From what i recall they have huge rebel markings on the fins but I think the point of 'tyderium' was that it was a relatively fresh capture and they had the codes etc so the Imperials would be expecting it to be in that area at that time.

I think a rebel shuttle as a 'scenario' would be brilliant but it would look out of place used too often.

probly not gona happen but a battle of endor pack would be cool so a rebel transport with upgrades or something for the empire to

I doubt it. A Rebel Lambda would be able to take ST-321.

Battle of Yavin and Battle of Endor campaign packs would be excellent.

I would make them consist of the following

1 large or two small unique ships or repaints.

a six or seven battle 'campaign' or escalation of scenarios like you get in the tantive box

Some unique counters akin to asteroids

Extra cards and pilot cards and few named unique ship base cards.

release it in the same price bracket as large ships/imperial aces etc

A Rebel Lambda would be able to take ST-321.

Could just errata the title to Imperial only and solve that.

All we'd need is a Tyderium title card, Lambda-only, making the ship's faction Rebel. It couldn't take ST-321 since it'd already have a title card. I was surprised the original release didn't have one, frankly.

FFG made a few comments at GenCon this year where they stated that the Rebel & Imperial factions will not become mirrors of each other, so I highly doubt it.

That's interesting because I've been wondering if they would every make a ship that was available to all factions, a mercenary for hire of sorts. Now that Scum and Villainy has been announced as a true 3rd faction I guess that idea is squashed :(

I know it doesn't sound as fun, but this is actually a good thing. Pilot abilities and ship stats are balanced not only to the metagame as a whole, but also specifically in relation to their faction. While you could create a perfectly fun game with mirror factions, this game has already moved beyond that.

It's already been mentioned, but a bunch of YTs and Lambdas would be horrible to fly against.

No. Please no. YTs are bad enough. YTs + shuttles??? *shudders*

Because the Lambda shuttle's an Imperial craft?

The Scum converts keep the faction identity of Scum: Scumhawks are not support ships, for example. The Lambda Shuttle is part of the Imperial's more command structure rather than synergetic method of support. The Rebels have no shortage of nice ships: I think the Empire should hold onto a ship that's in the films called an Imperial Shuttle.

If they add a Tyderium title it should greatly change the stats and it would have to come with a faction maneuver dial, so you may as well change that as well. Thematically it makes sense. Extra crew, less firepower.

This was, after all, a stolen ship used for infiltration. This would eliminate the problem of blending because the only thing it has to have in common with imp shuttles is the large base.

Rather than new cards, stats and dial...

Just a mission that redefines the shuttle as the Tyderium for that mission only.

Imperial keeps their ship and the rebels get to use it in a mission.

As fun or interesting as it might be... bottom line, the thing never saw combat in the movie.. so thematically it really doesn't work. I mean. There is no dogfight to get it on planet, so no scenario.. no big battle to get it back into space either.. its just a cool moment in the movie with some story line dialogue

Thematically they see action in the EU though.. it's as valid to have a rebel shuttle as a scum y wing IMO

From that view sure I can see that... with The Dis throwing out EU... maybe time to rethink EU additions. They are gonna pick and chose their EU material, might not be on the new menu.. I'm being more.. devils advocate here..

I get that the New Republic would most definately use them, but if ep7 is still rebels and empire, then there is no new republic.. and lots of book ideas go away.. just ideas kind you.. but something to think about. I do like the, no cross faction trades though, keeps them unique..

Its tricky isnt it. while disney may be 'sieving' the EU and keeping some things and ditching others... well FFG have clearly embraced things like the 'black sun' and other EU things like phantoms and defenders, e wings, lots of named characters etc.

Given that a captured shuttle is in the OT, then rebel captured shuttles in the EU are the *least* likely to get the chop if you ask me.

I mean in two out of three of the OT films rebels use imperial equipment to acomplish their goal (ST armour in ANH and the shuttle in RotJ)

Sure. What would the shuttle add to rebel fleets though? Tough, well shielded, and well armed but slow and unwieldy? That's a niche they don't have covered.

Maybe it could be a support ship that focuses on buffing allies instead of fighting itself? HLC platform? Cheap crew carrier?

The Rebels already do all of those things. Quite well, too. Run a scenario with a Rebel shuttle. Play the heck out of it and have a blast. But don't add it just because it could happen. That is the way of Attack Wing. Quicker, easier, more seductive.

I dont want the factions to be the same but with different skins. I like that the empire flies very differently than the rebels.

It depends how you play the game

If you're into 100 point death matchs against strangers you probably have no use for a rebel shuttle or fear it being overused.

If you're like my group and have narrative based games and scenarios and have no interest in 'imperial vs imperial' type games then having cards to allow you to do stuff thats clearly in the background would be nice.

Like a 'battle of endor' pack with a tyderium card and dial would not be marketted at tournament players, more liek the tantice with its smuggler campaign.

Though... I would like to put a big rebel bird on that tail fin ... lol I think it would look awesome..

I thinknit could be a fun scenario, or a mission idea. In our games away from tourneys I think we can, and should have fun with games like that. Just adds to the fun. A rebel stolen shuttle.. a couple rebel stollen ties or squints, infiltrate or surprise attack an asteriod instalation.. sounds fun to me..

The rebel shuttle should not be a "any list possibility" juste to keep some distance between the faction.

But as a scenario I think it a great idea to use it whit Han, Chewe and Lea
