Halloween Talisman

By DomaGB, in Talisman

You may have heard me mention this, even way back when I 1st got Blood Moon. I finally have done it. I have set my Talisman to be Halloween orientated.

I have to say to you folks who separate your Talisman after every game are either crazy or patient! ;) :P :D

It was quite the work, and then I have to undo all this in Nov or Dec.

I now have about 95% of Blood Moon in the game, but removed about 40% of all the other Talisman cards, leaving those which are essential (gold, some Talismans...) and those with a Halloween flavor. I would say I have about 95% of Firelands out, and 75% of Frostmarch out.

I will be running the Werewolf NPC, which I normally don't do, and be using the Werewolf alternate ending. More than likely I will be running the Reaper as well.

So my Adventure deck once again, is about 55% it's normal size (I run almost everything except about 2/3 of Blood Moon normally).

I will be reimplementing Day/Night (normally don't use it at all), but will not be activating the +/- effects thereof. Too many nice Halloween effects lost if I don't use day/nite.

I told my youngest son he can invite his friends over for a Halloween Talisman game session, and I will be running a couple myself.

Sounds like it will be great fun, DomaGB. Of course for a Witch like me... everyday is Halloween, ummm, Samhain.

Just kidding, I have enough other holidays on the Witch's Calendar.

I think it is a great idea. I would like to do similar: use only the base and blood moon components.

I would love to do this for my kids! Would you give us a card list?

Yikes! I would love to, but honestly that would be too much work. But I will share the general idea of how I got to mine. Using the expansion symbols I pulled out most of Frostmarch and Firelands, then went through each of the other cards one by one. (I quickly galcned through all the 2 expansions above and only kept a couple of enemies that jumped out at me as Halloweenish.)

I made 3 piles of cards from the rest: yes, no, maybe.

I worked hard trying to maintain a balance on items, strangers, & places. Items was the hardest. Since I pulled out so many monsters I had to maintain a proper ratio, so obviously had to pull items, strangers, and events. Events were easier since there are so many nice ones in Bloodmoon. So finding plenty to remove was easy.

I tried to keep out the exotic and odd items. And did similarly with places and strangers.

After doing this, I then went through my "maybe" stack, and put in cards to help achieve good ratios.

Hope this helps.
