Totally-ON TOPIC: That new "Rebels" TV series is looking so AWESOME it stokes me to think we'll be getting ships from it

By patox, in X-Wing

That ghost is honking huge. I can't believe they want to put it in X-wing at its current size. Moreover I can't figure out why the designers of the show made it so darn big. Not that it shouldn't be cartoony and toy sellable, but what the hell do the guts/cargo/living spaces look like?

Well, it IS a freighter, and one of the few "freighters" to actually deserve that name.

So I just watched the preview episode, and I came to two conclusions.

1) This show is totally Aladdin+Firefly+Star Wars. At least the preview episode has that Aladdin aspect. They even refer to the kid as a "street rat". Mal is obvious, the big dude is Jane, the pilot is Wash, the purple mando-chick is Wash's woman (I don't know why I can't remember her name) and the droid is like Kalli (or however you spell it).

2) I have my doubts as to whether or not we'll ever actually see ships from this show in the game because of the artistic flair this show spins on everything in it. Just look at the TIE Fighters and the Star Destroyers. XWM models all of the minis against the "realistic" version of the ships used in the movies. Rebels obviously gives all of these ships a little flair and artistic license for how they look, and to be honest I think to mesh the two would turn out weird.

Pick any ship from the show and it will have that same flair, and if FFG chose to port it over to XWM it wouldn't fit with the rest of the ships. Conversely if they DID switch up the flair and give it more "realistic" proportions then they wouldn't look like they do on the show.

the purple mando-chick is Wash's woman

Zoe...how could you forget zoe, is it because she's black do they all look alike to you is that it? YOU DISGUST ME SIR!

Well then lets hope they never show that style of freighter in anything else Star Wars, because then without a different reference, they can just put it right into the game as is in Rebels and we won't have to worry about it looking weird, different, or out of place.

I feel like the only one who doesn't find the proportions of The Ghost to be cartoony. Ships in Star Wars have always looked fairly... odd.

I have read a majority of this thread. Has anyone committing on here seen the full movie yet! I did and it's F&@& great! The ghost is based off a B-17 and would be bad ass in x-wing. If you don't like this show then you must be in your 20's or younger. This show IS what Star Wars used to be.

The ship IS a logically shaped/sized freighter. It is also PIG UGLY, and would hate seeing it in x-wing, let alone having to balance it's fat ass on a little plastic stand.

Well it is one fat little motherf*cker. That's for sure. Its looks have grown on me, however.

This right here makes me very happy. Aladding is one of my favorite Disney films and Firefly ended way too soon IMO...loved that show. And her name was Kaylee, short for Kaywinnet Lee Frye.

What makes me sad is I can't find the early showing on my cable system. How are you guys seeing it?

Usually via Netflix. Not something I have access to but I think it's on there either way.

Disney XD is showing it online. You just have to select your cable provider. I watched it Friday. Can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was a lot of fun, and I like the characters.

Not having any luck finding it on the Disney XD site. Any chance we can get a link?

Turns out this show is on DisXD. I'm going to have to pay extra just to watch it.

wierd...

I thought DisXD was the more common channel to get free, and Disney Channel was the one you had to pay for.

I stay away from torrents and such. I've always had bad luck with them.

I would have to pay for DisneyXD as well to watch it. Just another reason I'm mad at Disney for cancelling Clone Wars. I have Time Warner Cable and they charge like $11-12 extra a month for a "digital variety pack" I believe it's called that includes several extra cable channels including this one.

I can link it for those interested please PM me.

Why not just post the link here? You're not getting it through illicit means since Disney is the one making it available.
