Totally-ON TOPIC: That new "Rebels" TV series is looking so AWESOME it stokes me to think we'll be getting ships from it

By patox, in X-Wing

1. That may be true, but te ones in that ship couldn't hit a door sized hole. They were garbage.

2. You assume he couldn't get in without passing a check point. You have no evidence if this. Considering how easy it was to get to a ship and get out. It seems more likely that it wasn't worth the effort to avoid the troopers to begin with. They are, after all, "simple minded".

3. They knew where the pod landed. They should have been there within an hour or two tops. They also have star craft and could easily cover a search area of wide open desert for bright, shiny droids, yet they were a day behind. They could have killed every farmstead the crawler came across. Even inept troops can kill farmers.

4. Yes, letting the leaders of the rebellion escape with ease instead of killing them when you have a golden opportunity is a brilliant plan. Your drawing a bullseye around an arrow that clearly went wide. Vader killed admirals for making stupid decisions. He even explained his reasons.

5. Your examples are horrible. Singapore was hardly the best defended fortress in the world, and the Japanese had armor and air support. The Geemans killed 15 Russians for every German lost and mostly lost due to sheer numbers. Who cares about a Viking in an era before guns. You are right that AT-ST's are pretty indestructible in that case, so why would they open the hatch in the first place? Incompetence.

6. Verification? You're right, we commend Bond villains all the time for waiting for slow moving machines to kill Bond and not making sure he's dead.

1) I'm glad you agree I am correct. They did hit a door sized hole - you see shots going straight through it.

2) You assume it was easy to get a ship. You have no evidence of this. You seem to be confused about what Star Wars is. It's a mythic morality tale, not a military simulation. You know, movies don't show you EVERY SECOND of what goes on. Or did you think people in the Star Wars universe don't pee?

3) How do you know? Maybe 2 minutes after they landed there was a huge sandstorm that ended 2 minutes before the next scene started. See above. Also, of course they could kill farmers, but you then have to search an entire farm. Or every sand crawler. Maybe the Sand Crawler has a sensor jammer.

4) ALL the leaders weren't there, genius. Neither were all the ships. That doesn't happen until the end of V.

5) My examples rock. UK lost Singapore because of their own decisions. Japan could not have taken it if they had defended it properly. You clearly had no idea what I was talking about in regards to the Russians:

Did you watch the film? He opened the hatch to get the ewok off. He figured it was no threat. Like I said, HUBRIS.

6) Once again...did you watch the movie?

The fan boy is strong in these ones.

Alright, you ever heard of plot armor ? The rebels have it, the bad guys have to make these mistakes that let the good guys win, its how its written, using it to explain they are incompetent goofs is silly, bordering on special needs.

lol

The same people who claim the troopers are completely inept seem to have no problem with howlrunner or Fel. Shouldn't the imperial player have to roll at random for each of their TIE fighters at the beginning of activation to determine whether they fly into one another or a wall or some such?

Also ties should explode on contact with asteroids because they are too poorly trained fly around.

Hubris IS incompetence.

Why the hell are you complaining about the Imperials looking bad!? They. Are. The. Bad. Guys. And. They. Are. Bad. At. It. Face it! They crash into trees, can't hit worth a **** consistently no matter what weapon they're firing unless they are trying to hit something between the size of a barn-size shield generator or an Alderan size planet. They get beaten by primitive stone age little people. For frick sake they have trouble running through open doorways! Thanks Clerks! You 'effed up Star Wars with your little thought experiment. Ironically the director of clerks recently said he liked the prequels and thank the Force for him.

A'hyuk! Hey guys, let's be fans of the evil empire of space Nazis that blew up entire planets, committed genocide, conquered free independent states, and controlled the populace with fear! *backhand slap* If your so much a fan of the bad guys in movies go watch Twilight and be a fanboy for the vampires.

...Wow I feel better. Good talk son, good talk.

This and all the other TERRORIST propaganda posts have been reported to the imperial high command. Don't worry, action will be swift and painful. The Inquisitor is on alert should we need his expertise on the matter.

Never forget: these "movies" are terrorist scum recruitment films. Of course they depict the empire as evil and inept. The fact that the Emperor himself has not spent the credits to create even better, more spectacular, and more outlandish films of his own is telling of how big a threat he perceives these "rebels".

For the glory of the empire!

For the glory of the empire !

The Old Republic was bad the Empire is worse. I'm not sure a Galaxy wide government can be done well.

The empire was the first to offer universal health care

Bytheway... In case this topic goes back to what the title says.

The problem with the Ghost is that it would be slightly too big for the game. The Wookieepedia lists it as 43.9 meters, and every other piece of information seems to fit that size:

The Decimator isn't much smaller really.

It would look quite weird on the stand...
pic1949406.jpg

Its volume its much bigger than the Decimator. The Decimator might be long, but this one is long thick and tall...

It's okay you can say it, it's fat.

So Mel how long do these ships take you to model? since you appear to have started on the Ghost already. Will you be making the shuttle at the back removable?

Just curious are you using this graphic as your template?

I started modelign it long ago, but then I realised it was TOO big... (this was before the Huge ships were announced)

The visual guide has the VCX-100 at 43.9m. That's nearly 15% skinnier!

True. I looked up the Decimator on wookieepedia. It listed its length at 38 meters, 6 shorter than the Ghost. If I did the math correctly, at 1/270th scale, the Ghost would only be 2.2 cm longer than the Decimator. As for height and width of the Decimator I couldn't find any info for comparison but, if FFG does release a figure of the Ghost for X-Wing, I will buy it because I know it will be a good piece based on the previous ships they have given us.

The Ghost has REALLY grown on me.

Looking froward to the Chopper crew card!

Are all the measurements based solely on the cartoon? If so I think FFG could do minor tweaks here and there to help it fit a big base easier. I mean the Tie Fighters and Tie Advance are totally not correct proportionally in the show, so I wonder how much of the ghost is 'cartoonified' to be bigger.

I'm trying to create the Ghost as an Epic ship. Sadly, I don't know of any Epic card generators.

The idea I'm working on is an Epic ship with a single base. This would cause it to move differently than the other Epic ships so far, and let it fill a different niche than any other ship we've seen so far.

Just watched the early release On Demand pilot for Star Wars Rebels.

Can't wait to catch episode 2.

Loved it.

It wasn't any more geared towards kids than clone wars (which I didn't expect).

Loved the concept IG88s working for the Devaroninan in Tarkintown.

I won't say any more. You will enjoy it though.

Confound my inability to watch things!

So, aside from pro rebel drivel, nothing really said I see, cool story. Yes, some of us may actually like the evil empire more then the lame mary sues. At least Han was frozen in carbonite, and luke almost died a few times. They didn't just slide around and sissy slap every storm trooper they came across, and using the events on foresWell if that was the case then them taking over the galaxy I feel would be quite impossible, and the only fear they would rule by, would be the same fear one would feel with a mentally challenged person running your small business.

Not exactly PC.
