Simple checks question

By knew_b33, in UFS Rules Q & A

Modifying is now illegedly anything to do with 'plus' or 'minus' on the initial control check right?

such as the check made is a 5 and the opponent modifies to have minus 2 on it making it a 3... or is modifying strictly a 'plus' affect?

I feel like I'm being led into a trap, because not meaning to be a jerk, but I'm not sure what illegedly means.

modify is to change. Boost or detract, it's still a change, hence a modification.

But if I'm ruling on a specific card interaction, please provide the actual cards & card text because that will some times alter the ruling (especially if certain specific words are omitted)

oh ok then, sorry... I did not mean to activate my trap on you at all... but I was seriously being curious on this

Example;
Willful vs "The Cops" (The Anti K')

you go to make a control check and your opponent sends the cops on you but after the check is made you respond with willful.
or
Blood Runs True vs Willful

are the downing the control checks counted as modifications... or are modifications universal as either changing with positive/negative numbers

Okay... so what you're saying is that...

I try and hurl a feline spike at you.

You say "Aww **** son... it's the cops" and drop Anti-K

Can I drop Willful to resist Arrest?

Yes.

So whether you increase my check, and I still fail, or you decrease my check, you've modified it.

cool thanks thanks

To modify a check is to change it AT ALL. Adding or subtracting it makes no difference. If the number is anything than what is printed on the car itself then its considered to have been modifyed
