Aside from painting the engine exhausts of all my ships, here's a couple of ships I've done as complete/semi-complete repaints so far.

I was loathed to get a HWK because I just didn't like the crappy brown colour scheme. So when I finally relented and bought one ( just for the upgrades initially ), it went straight to the paintshop before hitting the gaming table. I started with a medium grey then extensively drybrushed a lighter shade before picking out the panel work with an even lighter shade. Finally finished it off with some subtle white edging here and there and on the cockpit framing, some red trim and did the engine exhausts in pale blue.

Here's a shot taken indoors that shows the colour a little better.

After finishing this off, I was much happier and decided to give it a try on the gaming table. It featured in my next 4-5 games. While it's not my favourite ship, it's getting more use than I first thought it would. Go figure.

I got a second A-wing a while back, and being a big Ralph McQuarrie fan, I decided to give the second one a new paintjob. I have a poster of the Prototype Pilot's artwork, so that was the inspiration for the repaint. I was quite happy with the end result, but even more surprised when FFG later decided to do the Rebel Aces pack with the A-wing in the same scheme. Now I've bought a Rebel Aces pack, I've got two of them, ( although they're slightly different from each other ).

Not exactly a complete repaint. I only really covered the red and redid the engines, but the overall look came out OK and I was happy with it.

Well, that's wave 7 finally done and out of the way. I decided to get a Z95 and paint it up as Boskk's escape ship the 'Nashtah pup' Mounted it underneath using a magnet and made some little hinges for the wings out of electrical tape so they fold away and can be deployed once launched

Even though I received one of the limited edition Raiders with personalised fingerprints and superglue frosting I still deemed it necessary for a quick repaint of the model!

Ps...I know the base is facing the wrong way...it was a long day!

How do you re-position your flight stands, so that ships are more sideways? I've snapped one of mine clear sticks right in the place when it goes into B-Wing's rear entrance

Any pic-tutorials would be much appreciated.

Some ideas (not mine):

- magnets link1 link2

- modify the original flight stand link1 link2

And a third option: if the plastic peg connector is broken, drill a hole carefully in the peg and another in the rear side of the ship and use a wire piece to fix both parts.

I'm not a painter at all. I have plenty of board games with minis and have never painted a single one but somehow I found myself grabbing my wife's paint supplies and trying my hand at repainting X-wing minis...

I started with a Decimator but made a huge mess and tried to correct it and then made more of a mess. I'm embarrassed to post that picture although in the end all things considered I don't think it turned out toooo bad.

I was able to learn a few good lessons from that attempt though and here is what I painted next. Feel free to critique. I don't know how much more I'll be painting but I did have fun with these:
