Why is this suprising?
Why people are able to accept cockney orcs, rock and roll sex daemons, and Mongolian ogres but would balk at female warriors is beyond me. If you want proof of gender equality among physical professions, look at any group of people who are lacking resources. When people don't have the resources to section people off into confined roles, you'll see much more heterogeneous professions.
Hell, just look at their myths to see that the notion of female warriors was there.........
