I have to say, I *am* pretty happy with how it came out...reminds me of the old LucasArts "TIE Fighter" game, somehow...taking down those Rebel insurgents to restore Law and Order to the galaxy...

;)

go tie bombers!

We need a Star Destroyer in there.

Eh, I always liked the 'TIE Fighter' missions where the Star Destroyer dropped you off and went off to fight another battle, while your fighter group completed the mission.

Really gave a sense of a much bigger Empire...

Or The Star Destroyer just dropped off a bunch of Tie patrols so it has a much wider range of control in the system or using Ties to corral ships such as the Tantive IV in.

Ever notice how there are a million comments where the Empire-minded folks say "Rebel scum" or "Space Hippies" etc., but those of us with Rebel sympathies never make posts that say "Dirty Imperials," or "Space Nazis" or anything like that. :)

I am not complaining, but I find it to be interesting. I guess the Imperial folks have an advantage, in my opinion. They get the opportunity to get in character by speaking scornfully, while all we have to offer is the term "Imps."

I just wish I had better ammo for when I mock the opposition...they have cookies and better insults. :(

"Bucketheads" works nicely. I mean, just look at those stupid helmets! NAVYTRP.png

I've found having a few simple bombers in an Epic game goes a long way towards destroying those pesky Huge ships… that and Rexler Brath. With how many capital ships you take out in those games, I can't help but feel that FFG gave Stele and Brath really good abilities that reflect anti-capital ship tactics.

Imperial slugs!

Death to the Emperor!!!!!!

Those fine gentlemen are after their shift going on a sponsored speeder race to raise money for orphans and their commander gave permission for them to wear their aerodynamic helmets.

But we don't expect malcontents and criminals to care about the younglings orphaned when they attack men and women just doing their part to bring peace to a turbulent galaxy.

I dunno, Rebel propaganda seems pretty well entrenched - *every* opening crawl for the movies mentions the evil Galactic Empire, after all.

And when anyone talks about flying for 'the bad guys', for some reason, it's commonly understood to mean the Empire , so...we get plenty of (unreasonable) disrespect from our opponents!

BTW, speaking of our Hard Working Death Star Gunners...

*sigh*

Leaving all the work to the TIE Fighter corps...

I think part of it is that the Rebels have taken the Scum name as a badge of honor.

Sounds about right for Rebel "thinking"...heh.

Fortunately, we'll shortly have the galaxy cleansed of that minor band of troublemakers, and at last...we...shall...have...peace.

Yes. YES. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.

Many was the time I'd be playing as escort or protect mission on the old X-Wing games. I'd be buzzing around, blowing TIE fighters to shreds, hunting down those pesky Interceptors... and I'd turn back to the ship I was protecting, just in time to see multiple streaks of blue light heading towards it...

Escort missions suck in every game.

And to think that in xwing miniature game, the y-wings could give 3 rounds to the death star before Vader takes them out.

Escort missions suck in every game.

"Primary Objective: Taking heavy fire!"

"Primary Objective: Our shields are down!"

"Primary Objective: Our hull is damaged!"

"Nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!"

Nah, you just have to stay focused on the mission objective.

You don't really see it until playing multiplayer games, but in larger battles it often makes sense when hitting a target to have a group of your fighters try TO distract the enemy - get in a fight with them, and try to pull them away from the target they are defending. Then, you can get at it with a much smaller strike force.

As defender, just...don't fall for that! Don't go chasing bad guys when you mission isn't to kill them , but to protect a ship.

And to think that in xwing miniature game, the y-wings could give 3 rounds to the death star before Vader takes them out.

Welll...they are plainly at range 1 in the movie, so he's got 3 dice, anyway. And given they were running straight in a trench without the Y-Wings mounting turrets (for some reason), no reason Vader couldn't have been flying 'Expose'...he certainly wasn't taking any fire. (Although, in the movie, the Y-Wings definitely seemed overly obsessed with target-locking that exhaust port, so 'Opportunist' may well have worked better.)

Either way, he throws 4 dice, so with the right crits could do it in two shots. And that's assuming the Y-Wings have taken no damage at all before Vader's shot. If they had lost their shields, already, then a single 4-dice attack - pulling at least one 'Direct Hit' - could kill them.
