Well, that was fast!

By Desslok, in General Discussion

The F&D beta showed at the printers just a couple of days ago. According to today's update? It's shipping to stores now, with a shelf date of the 9th. Wow - that was the fastest cargo-ship from China EVER. And FFG must have seriously bribed customs to get cleared that fast!

Well done, fellows. Well done. Now get the Stay On Target here like that, please.

Faster than the AoR beta. That's nice.

Although are we certain FaD is shipping from China?

Maybe they went with a local printer this time to not have the china headache

Let's see how long it takes with Australia here.

I think they already had them in abundance and it was getting them out to the stores probably. They had a pile of them at Gencon.

Emphasis on "Had". ;)

They didn't have any left to bring to PAX Prime just 2 weeks later, so maybe the first batch was just the super early run and they had to wait for the real run.

Did they actually attend PAX? My spy that I sent there looking for the F&D beta said that they didnt even have a booth or anything.

They had a room with 6 tables I think it was 212.

Each table had a board game from Fantasy Flight Games.

All the games were old/older games, except they did have a demo of the XCOM game.

The personnel were Fantasy Flight Games people, they just didn't seem to be very enthusiastic.

They "were not allowed to actually sell anything there, due to a distribution agreement with Uncle's Games".

Their "setup" was 2 doors down from the Uncle's games room.

Anyone not familiar with Uncle's, they are a crappy store that makes you hate going there (I have been to 2 of their stores and both sucked). They do not help customers that have questions.

The only SWRPG stuff Uncles had there was the 2 beginner boxes, the EotE CRB, the Aor CRB and 1 copy of Far Horizons.

And they're way too expensive. I'd much rather go spend my dosh at Card Kingdom - they have much better prices!

I like Games and Gizmos or Amazon (it is local for here, don't judge me!). heh

Unfortunately a search for Force and Destiny on Amazon isn't useful yet, so I can't pre-order a copy or two for my players.

When I worked on the Eastside in north Redmond, G&G was my go-to gaming store. Now it was either Gary's Games (until they closed) or Card Kingdom, and occasionally Green-lake Games, but they're a smaller store so they have less stock.

Hey there:

But did they break the parsec-record on the Kessel Run?

L

FFG must have seriously bribed customs to get cleared that fast!.

Bribe? No... Just some old guy telling the customs officer, "This is not the contraband you're looking for. It can go about its delivery route. Move along."

Preceded by him saying customs...you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I imagine this batch of books was already on the boat even during Gen Con.

I imagine this batch of books was already on the boat even during Gen Con.

More than likely.

They just couldn't post it's status until after it'd been officially released at GenCon. Probably a case of them learning from mistakes made with the distribution of the AoR Beta and not wanting to want until the end of September or into October for folks that want the book to get their hands on a copy.
